a hacker started making bots and respawn did not feel like fixing it a the time because I believe that they had a skeleton crew of a few people keeping the game running and because the game was only multiplayer unlike titanfall 2 they decided to just remove because did not have any players anyways at the time and did not want to potentially be sued for having a broken game for sale.

Titanfall 1 got unplayable in PC due to the bots and ♥♥♥♥ the hacker was doing to the servers when it got release into steam. Respawn did not feel like fixing ♥♥♥♥ all ea studios tend to be like that support a product for 1 year or 6months after relase and drop it leaving servers open with minimal maintenance, shutdown the whole thing or give access to the community to host servers like the case with BF4, after that the hacker moved to ddos attack titanfall 2 pc during half of 2020, 2021, half of 2022, respawn out spite and as a last "favor" to the community fixed titanfall 2 btw 2022 and 2023, they gave us a few season modes that ended in January 2024 after the fix yep they abandoned us again and the game has now minimal maintenance just no ETA servers restarts at times.

If you want to play the first game nowadays you must get a cd key from a thirdparty for the correct platform PC(only EA app no steam) and Xbox consoles (avoid the 360 one since it can only be played with other 360 users). I will recommend stick to xbox, the pc version even with the servers still online better no to touch it since none plays it anymore in pc.

Not to forget about the motivation of the "good" hacker.
They said they wanted turn the game into good through their hacking.
