I see some players often (always?) leaving their mechs to leave it guard somewhere and they fight on foot.

We often win battles like that, so it can't be that bad.

But... is it good? Or again more of "it depends" on player/map/mech?

I'm playing a game with big stompy robots to pilot a big stompy robot. I rarely leave my mech unless there's an actual reason to do so. I'm sure there's some sort of long standing meta that makes me wrong, but I don't care about meta. I'm just here to have some fun.

Depends, main reason I do it is to level up guns for their addons.

Its almost universally not.

The only semi exception is scorch with temp plate + autochip can make a decent turret or ai mop.

So from your answers I get the vibe that there might be good reasons to do it but it is normally worse than sitting yourself in the "big stompy robot".

Thank you. I thought there might be some meta involved.

But I play the game for fun, so I'll perhaps do it myself some times in the future.
I'd love to get these energy cells for free by just shooting my weapons :-)

i think it's viable but only when you summon your mech around your other mates' mechs and just hang around them
