[FYI] You can disable chat message in Titanfall 2

Just in case for those of you who may not know, you can disable chat in Titanfall 2:
Go to Settings > Video > HUD Option > And then switch Chat Message to OFF.

Now the chat won't show up on your screen anymore but you can still manually enable it anytime during the game by pressing a chat button. When you play PvE you may want to turn it back on if you care enough to communicate.

I thought it would be worth posting a thread about it since there are people who suffer from occasional toxicity in this game and also it is unusual to have the chat option randomly added in a "video" setting so I assumed that quite some people might overlook such a feature.

You have the every right to preserve yer optimal gaming performance and not to be distracted by so-called vets and newbs alike who are so chatty, whiny, salty, have inflated egos and become unnecessarily vengeful for killing them or using certain types of weapons and loadouts.

Iv seen people being "toxic" all of once and it was over a newer player picking the second scorch on angel city.

Also forgot to mention you can mute individual players from the score screen.

Turning off in-game chat is the best thing you can do in this game. It's so much more enjoyable that way.

I agree with you 100%. I wish I had known this feature much earlier.

Also I wanted to get back to you soon but the reason for postponing is that I was preparing a lengthy reply about my personal experience and my opinion on disabling chat option in multiplayer games in general, but then real life took me away from Steam and I forgot about this thread. But here I am now after months have passed… Though I decided to leave out the lengthy part for now unless I probably change my mind later as I don't intend to be overly sensational and make this thread potentially a heated discussion.

Since the game is on sale I only hope new players who happen to come by this thread find out this feature and prevent themselves from experiencing toxicity.

Thank you. I'm tired of standing on a wide open roof, where anybody can see me, taking out 2, 3, 4 in a row, and some whiner will start complaining that I'm "camping" because he's not skilled enough to come get me, so he expects me to jump around like a bunny rabbit so he can shoot me.
