well youre going against people who spent 900 hours just doing the training course and practicing movement alone. so only way is to watch youtube videos and put the same time in

Play and learn maps.

Just play
Get comfortable running and gunning. I'm still pretty bad but I've gotten a lot better by getting used to running around instead of camping like I used to.

Luckily a lot of us are only just coming back, so it's a nice time for new players too without being too outmatched.
There is still a high bar with good players regardless, but like anything, just engage, play with buds, and have a great time :)

Delusional answer: Invest 100+ hours to become 1/10th as good as the G100 players who have played 1000 hours in multiplayer alone. Invest 100 hours more to become 2/10th as good. Is it worth it? You be the judge.

Real answer: Learn the maps (#1 most important thing), then some basic movement (wall kicks, some slide hopping). Then focus entirely on the one playstyle that is frowned upon in TF2: Camping.

There is a reason TF2 players go apeshіt every time someone camps; because it's effective. In this movement shooter where movement is supposed to be everything, for some reason they cry when they get camped. That's because they lie to you when they say that movement is everything. It isn't, aiming is. And camping makes it easy for you to aim. It also makes it easy for you to know where enemies will come from. You can't be shot from behind if you're against a wall.

So, become the camper TF2 doesn't want you to be.

try play the campaign, it gives you a good feel for the titans and the movment required for this game

1. Def play through the entire campaign 1st before playing Multiplayer. It is really short and also very excellent anyway.

2. Watch a few youtube videos explaining how Slidehopping, Air-Stafing, Wall-kicking work and how to do them. Simple but extremely important concepts that you NEED to understand how they work and how to do them because all other players are using them and many have had hours of practice using. It is actually how other players are moving at such extreme speeds. Follow along the videos trying to do them yourself in a private match with no other players so you can practice.

3. If you are playing on controller then you will need to up the sensitivity speed for the right analog stick, aka your camera/aiming. There is 1 for the right stick, then another for when you are holding down to aim down sights with your gun. You can even adjust the sensitivity together or separate.
This is actually important as the default setting for control is far too slow. It is fine for the campaign but for multiplayer you will get smoked left and right. This is because other players are even using a mouse or have also upped the sensitivity for controller.
Where you set it is where you are comfortable with that you get used to. You will have to up it at least 2 settings up from default. All the way to max will be way too much.
This will likely take some fine tuning to find the sweet spot that works for you.

4. Probably stick to the CAR for your gun in multiplayer until you get used to all listed above and you get better at the multiplayer.

5. Not sure what advice to give when it comes to using the Titans as each Titan is very specific. For example with Northstar you want to be hiding behind cover as much as possible, charge up your gun to max, peak out to fire and get right back behind cover. He is a sniper class that has his dash move, snare traps, and is needs to be at a far distance. You don't want to be up close with other Titans with him.
An example is hiding behind cover at some distance, come out and aim to charge your shot and align your aim. Soon as it is charged to max take your shot and dash back into cover. Then repeat. Northstar at max charge does a lot of damage.

Every Titan is unique so this explanation is only specific for using Northstar.
Take these things into account and then just try to practice them in live matches.

You literally can't. Players have literal years of experience over you - not to mention people playing Apex. Anyone around your skill level is already leaving so you'll be against no one but sweats. Game will be dead again in a week (this happens yearly when game is on special or something). The community, and lack of matchmaking, is this games worst enemy.

The game's worst enemy is Respawn making it easy to abuse Source engine's movement quirks. There's a reason TF1 is considered the better game.
