What's wrong with R-101C/R-201?
This assault rifle is supposed to be the workhorse like jack of all trades but master of none;
But Jesus Christ what is that recoil I can't even control it while stuff like Flatline, Hemlok, G2 has no recoil at all why is it like that?

r-101 has better recoil actually. The flatline has awful recoil/spray pattern its just horizontal.

The issues with the ars is largely that they are balanced around aim assist. Really only the hemlock/g2 are unique enough to kinda find their own similar niche with the longbow.

They are still largely "overpowered" compared to most of the other weapon choices (mostly the body shot ttk being extradonarily low out to exterme ranges even for smgs), its just smgs>ars unless you are using aim assist from a controller.

You're saying ARs are can't function properly without Aim-Assist?

No, they are in respect to ar vs smgs balanced around having aim assist so when you remove it your removing alot of the upside they have overall smgs statistically. The car for example may have more fall off then that r101/r-201 but its spread is so much lower that it dosent really matter at range, however with a controller it has garbage aim assist while the ARs have good aim assist, meaning with m+kb the smgs will be more accurate all things being equal while its almost always the the opposite on controller.

You can still do well with them just like (actually more easily outside farming ai) you can with projectiles as the ttk is super low enough in the game that it largely dose not matter outside making the game "harder" or maybe super sweaty ctf/live fire/lts (tactical/titan kit balance is another story).

The flatline is just a "bad" gun but its the same story. As far as the hemlock/g2 as I said they kinda fill their own niche (how good that niche is another question) so they arent hurt they same way r101/r201/flatline are on with k+mb and in some ways m+kb is better for them albeit not to the same degree smgs are better (g2 has pretty good aim assist as well).

What would you recommend than? should I keep grinding ARs or just continue with SMGs?

If you like the ar use the ar. I like projectiles, outside a narrow set of situations (in door points/ai farming/hitting titans) they are largely worse then hitscans do to the low ttk hitscans have. Grinding them (ars) is the only way to get the unlocked plates any way if you want them or to unlock all the colors for all guns.

Also on the whole niche thing getting good with ars can marginally help you in modes with ai as you swap out your pistol for an ar and outside super close range headshots with the p2016 its going to be better in alot of situations as its more similar to an smg and overtly stronger then the re-45 (still has a marginally slow draw speed then pistols thought). Most people dont bother but thats their as well.

The spray ars just have slightly better fall off dmg that is largely defeated by more recoil and spread (along with having worse hipfire) so its not a big difference any way out side maybe super sweaty ctf/livefire/lts.

Also heres a "mostly" accurate list of the stats for weapons in the game (its the best one we have): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nxDADMLQfHCO6Z-hO0Dv5FJ1HSv7JsPEdcfQpoELRkg/edit#gid=1950122771

That all being said the r101 is just flat up better then the r201 because of the lessened bloom unless you want to use the r201 scope (dont ask why I cant think of a reason) or get the plates/colors/levels. Its a small difference but it exists.

Also I forgot to mention on the whole g2/hemlock thing, the snipers have a sort of "bloom" to where they zoom which is something the g2/hemlock largely lack (easiest to see in the vr mission or a private match vs ai which is also decent aim training to get used to guns bloom/spray) so that is also something they have going for them despite the sort of overlap they have with things like longbow, so you dont have to readjust as much after zooming in compared to the hipfire starting point.
Flatline is good. Especially with tapping on greater distances

I know that's what I'am talking about but Flatine is a "Specialist" weapon I mean high damage and accuracy in exchange for more recoil yeah sure, but R-101C/R-201 is a weapon that was supposed to be high accuracy and fire rate but low damage and recoil but as I stated R-101C/R-201 is exact opposite of what it's supposed to be intended for meanwhile V-47 is if you willing to make a fair trade but yeah I get your point but with the recent update we need balancing especially for guns like R-101C/R-201.
The flatline is supposed to have zero recoil, it gets replaced with like, "horizontal recoil" I guess, when you shoot it goes to the side a bit instead of upwards.
