I stopped playing after an hour because literally every lobby was full of apparently TF2 gods that played the last 5 years despite it being f2p this weekend.

I consider myself decent at Apex and I actually bought and played the game at release and remember having fun for a few weeks before losing interest.

Could it be that the game remembered my SBMM rating from 5 years ago or something?
These games I played were so insanely onesided I´m just flabbergasted. Even Titan gameplay was tryhard as ♥♥♥♥, everyone had perfect movement and camped behind cover it was truly ridiculous I have no words. I highly appreciate TF2 but that was so unfun I uninstalled. Not playing this to rage constantly. Back to apex...

Hate to say it bro but the people who've stuck with this game for the last few years have really, really stuck with it, even as its population has dwindled. Pre-apex, this game was largely populated by long-term players and a very small number of newcomers. It was very much a case of "get good or get out". It's just one of those kinds of games unfortunately. Stick with it. It took me a few hours to see why people enjoy it so much. 300 hours later and I can see why.

It's called being good. This "sweat" thing is hilarious because all it takes to be called one is to play a game for fun but also be good at it. I got called a sweaty pro in my first multiplayer match and all I did was play the singleplayer and practice the movement mechanics in the gauntlet

That's what happens, when you don't have a ranked gamemode where all sweaty people can go.

Honestly, with this sudden revival of the game with ~30k players, things became only worse.
I remember playing when it was around 3-5k players and things were more or less fine and balanced.

Now every single match is one-sided trash. Either our team gets totaly destroyed (for example, just had a bounty hunt match, where our team was able to get around 100$ in total), or the opposite. It really sucks. Even if this game has some sort of balance, it doesn't work at all. Don't even tell me, that from 30k players, the game isn't able to find 10-12 players with the same skill level.

or a non team mode. i dont know why every FPS game has to be team based, is it to teach us to work well collaboratively in out slave jobs or to crush individuality? who knows maybe ive smoked to much herbal tea

Haven't given this too much thought but I'm of your opinion to be quite fair. DM Game Modes and the like where every one is on their own are pretty RNG most of the time, but really, I think I enjoy them more than having to do with idiots in a team-based game

I don't know how you came up with that conclusion, since you play fighting games and these games have a very high skill ceiling.

What about - I know this is going to be tough - trying to figure out things on their own? Learning by doing and spending hours into something with good results perhaps.

How can you be happy about something you haven't even done on your own?

If people call this fun, then I have to disagree with this, but each to their own. Winning is not the issue, but trying to pull that with zero effort is just something that is considered "good" nowadays is just fundamentally questionable.

No, some people just have different views to things, and some people reconsider their former opinions, unlike many others. It's called critical, controversial thinking and most of those mannequins out there living without a noticable consciousness to them just don't seem to make any use of it "now a days". I've literally never played Titanfall before and I'm mid-tier most matches, and that's using an L-Star which is generally seen as not being that great since it's projectile based. It has little to do with playtime or being a "sweat" and more to do with playing shooters with lots of movement mechanics (many Source games, Quake, Tribes, ect.).

It's a totally different set of skills than what most people think of when they think of shooters nowadays. I absolutely suck at Apex but I'm doing OK here and I've already seen other newcomers telling me to commit suicide because I have some idea of what I should be doing.

Which, the "back to Apex" comment is hilarious, as if people aren't generally *even more* "sweaty" in a game where death means being chucked back into matchmaking.
