The disturbing part is to enter the login for the failing connection to then go offline.
If it doesn't work, then do it with a little internet connection , just to connect, and then click in the upper left menu to play offline.
Summary : 1) try to connect anf fail 2) go in the origin menu and click "play offline"
1.You need to go online at least once to get an 'offline token' (but that's pretty obvious)
2.Offline token can both expire and be invalidated by external means (variable, support perhaps, plus *possibly* de-authorising other logged in devices but for the token to get invalidated that specific system would have to go online for it to take effect)
3.For vast majority of games you have to launch them at least once when online to be able to play them offline (I know, it's stupid, but that's how it is)
