Contacting Respawn Servers - Cannot play Multiplayer
I've just purchased Titanfall Buddle and I cannot play Titanfall 2's Multiplayer, as it says "Contacting Respawn Servers" on an infinite loop.

I've looked online and although this appears to a common problem, the proposed solutions have not worked:

1) Make sure your firewall is not blocking network connections relating to Titanfall 2 - Changed settings, did not work.
2) Make sure your internet wifi adapter is the only adaptor available to use - Disabled all over adaptors, did not work.
3) Disable all hidden network adaptors - Did not work.
4) Set Titanfall 2 to high priority - Did not work.
5) Launch through Origins, rather then Steam - Did not work.

EA Support appears to be useless.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(Titanfall 1's Multiplayer works fine).

I saw many people that said this helped them but for me it not worked. Any advice?
no clue, seems the community here sucks badly,
I still havent been able to play a single mp
nothing.
I would not recommend doing this globally, as some other games or software may make use of the unaltered Environment Variable.

If you decide to try this fix, do this instead:

In your Steam Library, right-click Titanfall 2 and select "Properties". Go to Launch Options and paste the following string:

cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x200000200000000 && %command%"

If that doesn't work, change the value to "~0x20000000", leaving everything else the same.

This will only alter the variable for the duration that you're running TF2; you may get a persistent black box that pops up while the game is running. It should close automatically when you close TF2, but if it doesn't, just close it manually.

Also, this is not a fix for every CPU out there, but for certain Intel CPUs that make use of the Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) instructions. There's a bug with older versions of SSL and older versions of Unreal Engine that the above fix is meant to address.

I get it; you don't understand what's going on here and that's fine. I do think you should take your own advice and google it, because that's exactly what I did before adding more info and a suggestion to just alter the variable on an "as needed" basis only when running TF2.

As to "why", because people who have purchased the game and have an Intel CPU that is affected by the issue with older engines and SHA deserve to know of a workaround that Intel themselves posted. If a person is comfortable working a little under the hood, then they can give this a shot; it's their PC and their choice.

The only thing different that I have added is to change it from a global variable to one limited to only TF2 while it's running, since some other processes may need to make use of an unaltered SHA.

But, you don't have to take my word for it Chicken Little; I included a link to the Intel article that gives more information.

mate I am and have been a tech prolly longer than you have been alive.
alter..variable wow
keep on keeping on!
There are forums on how to secure openssl3.0 but mate ugh at the VERY LEAST make sure you keep openssl up to date, which isnt done FOR you.
Also again has nothing to do with mp or this game.
Much like anything else if you dont update this feature which no windows update DOESNT do, you are putting yourself at risk.
If you dont know what kind well. I dropped 2 bad ones in that link, which were mended.
But this is how EA went down in 2021. via openssl DUR?
ddos for years off and on.
Care to risk this for what?

*below is not a joke! and uses the same commands somewhat. I can make a simple exe batch file, but steam takes over as it shouldnt but yep steam is a copy protection dontcha know.
* look below if ye can help

Now if you know someone that can code up a batch for
The Technomancer to work without rebooting with 4 CPU's not cores! lemme know
hurts my head when games require lame stuff to run like that.
or this game
Please check that technomancer doesnt work without reboot with 4 yes 4 cpus, NO not cores.

Mate, bottom line, its not needed to play online what you are putting
many posted that early on

ONE OF MANY issues if you open what you are..

"A buffer overrun can be triggered in X.509 certificate verification, specifically in name constraint checking. Note that this occurs after certificate chain signature verification and requires either a CA to have signed the malicious certificate or for the application to continue certificate verification despite failure to construct a path to a trusted issuer. An attacker can craft a malicious email address to overflow four attacker-controlled bytes on the stack. This buffer overflow could result in a crash (causing a denial of service) or potentially remote code execution."

aw the old days when I used to be able to put a floppy in a library pc, press a key and walk away, shutting down phone companies
aww
I so miss being a kid again.

First, no, you haven't been a tech longer than I've been alive. The fact that you're freaking out over altering a variable in a limited environment and only while running a single game tells me enough about your "tech experience".

Secondly, you never "put a floppy in a library pc, press a key and walk away, shutting down phone companies"; that you tried to include being a wanna-be script kiddie as a selling point in your tech experience, again, tells me all that I need to know.

That said, you are correct in that this isn't going to fix MP forever if EA is shutting down their matchmaking servers, but it may help some who are having problems getting the game to work; for some people in this thread it does appear to have helped. If the alteration that I proposed to making it a launch option instead of a global change doesn't help, then it is easily undone by removing the launch setting; as I've said a few times now, it will not work on all CPUs and you should read the Intel article first to determine if your CPU could benefit.

But don't come at me, with all your vaunted tech experience, screaming about this having some kind of catastrophic risk for people; it doesn't unless you're the kind of person who can screw up a simple copy and paste job in which case you shouldn't even be reading this.
My era we were phreakers not hackers mate
the reasons for shutting down anything was to tell them, and show them their holes.
Then we would get hired.
I have worked for many companies you prolly have heard of, but at this point kid, what difference does it make?
Just keep telling people to open that
just go on.. see what happens hehe
weee

ty for agreeing about the cashgrab and ea servers though. thats true.

Screaming by all definition cant exist in typing. CAPS CAN but is that screaming?

You may be fine using this crap but 80% of the kids out there dont have your brain mate.
seriously we still deal with people clicking CLOSE or X on popups on closed token rings
which then infects everyone on that network

sad days

hugs always
I miss my phreaking days! if you dont know what that is just watch War games the movie
free phones and finding HOLES in all os's and companies
DOS attacks were very easy early on.
Just tell that library pc to call all pcs it knows *both tcp/ip and spx/ipx
then have all those tell everyone connected to them to all ping the same ip the same time
BLAMo

dos
not ddos, just dos
thats just one, another would be to add just 1 extra byte per packet.

its people like myself, that now help protect your..and most peoples lives.
tv phone what-have you.

hugs and mooooore hugs
I think you are intelligent, to much so for the insults given, just know this
80% arent..
hugs x infinity
that openSSL is only if some old game crashes, so far it was only one Unreal Engine 4 game that needed this for me personally and I did it per game basis not globaly.

So that SSL won't help at all by network.:summerghost:

speaking of, I just bought it few days ago and it doesnt work.. locked mp. A friend can somehow play a little, he said it can go offline too by him anytime, while I can't at all.. im still plyaing intro mission, maybe just maybe I need to play more SP to unlock MP?
