I didn't know that. It was a bit of a shame, but when I tried TF|1, the game was dead enough outside of the "Campaign", That when my friend wanted to level the Smart Pistol (Weapon, not a boost) in order to use it in that game's FD (Which didn't give any progression at all, so +1 to Titanfall 2 there), We could do public matches of Attrition just me, him, and another friend, mutually agreeing to ignore each other and just farm grunt kills. only kill eachother for Pilot kill specifics.
I don't remember if this Predated discord or not, at least for me, and I did say "enough". I wasn't debating that game's population, honestly. Though I will still just say that games that focus on the PvP multiplayer experience, then remove rewards for players that A: play only with their friends, or B: only play the PvE mode they included, honestly bugs me still. We wouldn't have touched TF|1's PvP at all if we could actually level and improve our stuff in the PvE.
... do miss some of the maps and mechanics, though. I remember in 1, the only time an Eject sent you flying to the skybox is if it was a Nuke Eject, and if you ejected under a roof, it wasn't your exploding Titan that'd kill you... it was the impact on the roof reducing you to paste.
Again i was talking only about the Campaign, i cant judge the MP.
But i played Quake 3 and CS 1.6 for many Years so thats an interestign Statement about the MP.
The original game didn't even had a campaign. Well, it did, but it was part of the multiplayer experince where the "story" happens in background while you play a perfectly normal online match.
Single player is actually a unique selling point to the 2nd game and personally i think the campaign here is cute. Story is cliche as ♥♥♥♥, but devs really tried to give every mission / chapter a unique gimmick so that the player didn't got too comfortable or bored with current gameplay.
Combined with some intense Titan Fights at the end i would go up from 7/10 to a 8/10.
Not one of my all time favorites, but overall the Campaign was good, it had some lows and some highs.
But even if i dont wanne play the Campaign again, i will remember BT for a long time.
And i must say the TF2 Community reacted realy chill when you gave some critic, not all Communities react like that.
In an age of dumbed down consolized cr+p it does at least stand out as a very decent shooter. Best played on highest difficulty though.
there are two types of fps players those who like slower paced, vehicle based shooters and those who like to run around until they get shot. i havent played multiplayer but ive played the effect and cause mission which was awesome and the movement isnt forced its the foundation. the games is based on its parkour and always will be. good pilots will be able to hit their targets while running. now for the story i just wanna say it was more like a tutorial and was very simple and straightforward you knew who was gonna die and who wasnt but its still somehow very emotional and fun
But the Parkour in TF2 happens mostly without enemies nearby, just to get from A to B.
And in the rare scenes where you can use it within a Shootout, it pretty much gets you killed on the highest Difficulty because you dont have cover.
Sure i had 2-3 cool Moments in the whole Campaign thanks to it, but to me it never felt like a natural core feature to the Gameplay.
And i like both fast paced FPS Games or slower more tactical FPS.
Both give you a complete different kind of satisfaction.
Thats why i loved Games like Quake 3 or Painkiller as much as Games like Operation Flahspoint/ARMA.
The people are trying to hype you up. Don't listen to them.
It is said that the worst thing is facing against expert players who had the game from before but that is nothing. I am bad at fps but I did not find it one bit annoying to play against them all the time. What did annoy me was that in any multiplayer match, I am just playing with my brain turned off. Run here and there for no reason, shoot a bunch of bot-grunts who die in one second, grapple and jump when I get sick of just running to god-knows-where, and once in a while, shoot a player who just takes an extra second to die.
The only mode that was interesting was ctf, but for some reason, the idiots never play it and I'd sit in the lobby for almost an hour.
It's just a bore through and through.
I find the available PvP gamemodes utterly boring, as they don't offer any objective. It's just the same with the PvE part of the game - they just threw in the bare minimum you can think of.
