Scorch is Bad?
Watching guides from a few years ago, everyone agrees that Scorch was extremely bad compared to all the other Titans
Is that so? I hear people all the time telling me to run Tempered Plating and Turbo Engine - with Scorch becoming a beast because of it - however the old guides (from Frothy for example) say that he's meme tier
Could someone help me out? I think he made the video before the last update in December 2017 so the meta hasn't changed all that much

The problem with Scorch in pvp is that he is very map dependent... and easily countered on the more open maps.

I wouldn't waste my time with "meta" videos, if i was in your place, and instead find something that works for you. A good scorch pilot is better than a mediocre Monarch pilot. There is no point in using the Meta option if you are only mediocre with it, but really good with a "non meta" option.

Thanks for the reply mate
However, a good Monarch and absolutely wreck a mediocre Scorch so I guess I'll stick with Ronin

A good X will very often wreck a medicore Y. The thing with Scorch is that you need to be close to the enemy which is the hardest step. When you actually get close to them then it's almost always a win for you since no one can 1v1 scorch in close quarters, not even Ronin who was made for melee duels.

Scorch is map dependant. 1v1 champ in smaller closed maps

scorch needs the small maps with lots of buildings and high cover
the maps that usually make titans much weaker he thrives in

i like to run inferno shield instead of tempered plating because thats where my main damage comes from, you just need to watch where youre going

i reccommend you learn all the titans, they all have they're up's and down's. scorch is really good up close but is really bad anywhere else.

Scorch isn't bad the maps are

Scorch is a favorite. Once you get used to the arc and speed of the ammo, you'll be leading shots easily.

Its great as an auto mech.
Im currently running a build where i dont even enter my Titan except for a potential ammo restock.
Other than that i stay as a pilot.
With advanced Auto Titan hes much better than the rest. The LEgion AI struggles with the windup which means it barely uses the gun, the Ions damage isnt good enough as the AI doesnt do continued attack but just bursts.
Ronin is utter garbage because it needs much more Player Input to properly balance between speed, attacks, getting in close or escaping.
The rest is so-so.
But Scorch is great simply because it only has one shot anyway and does continued damage.
Even if player Titans come close it can sustain solid damage with its Q and Shield.
I had matches where my AutoTitan handled 3 Titans in a Brawl and acted as a Tank sucking up damage so the other players controlling Titans could end them faster, my Scorch even survived such attacks.
In those moments players often seem to focus Auto Titans as easy kills to increase their Ultimate Charge, but they are done before they can use it anyway if they are only ok in the game.
My Auto Titan build works quite good actually because of the Scorch.
However, i dont think that was the intention behind it.
Its a crowd control Titan to push other Titans in a specific spot.
If you are good with it and get Titans int oa corner, they are done.
Thats why its a hard to play Titan compared to pretty much the entire rest (except Monarch).
Totally situational.
But since my Situation ever stays the same, Scorch acting as a Bait or Tank, it perfectly fits.
In the moments i use it personally, which is rare, it has a quite high damage output.

Did anyone here ever try using the pilot skill Ordnance Expert with Scorch?

It gives him a tracking arc for his thermite launcher.

Scorch is my main titan, if you already see frothy scorch guide. Well it looks like i am just going to rephrase it and give some tips lol.

Just like K N | F 3 mostly i am using turbo engine and inferno shield. The strategy is use your firewall and incendiary trap to make your opponent get out from his comfort place and then use your thermal shield. I think in this situation, thermal shield with inferno shield is the main source of your damage. With inferno shield you can melt any titan in one time ability except for legion it needs some additional damage from firewall, incendiary trap, or your thermite launcher. Do not forget you can block damage from your opponent with thermal shield. But if your opponent using core ability it will consume so much your thermal shield.

Some cases when i am playing in bigger maps, i will use wildfire launcher. In that situation you need to adapt with your surroundings. Like always take cover when you reload your thermite launcher. Do not forget to crouch your titan when take cover, because scorch is a big boi lol.

I am always spamming my dash to get faster. Do not forget that you can dash while using your thermal shield ability to get closer with your opponent.

Speaking of crouch you can also combine it with electric smoke when your opponent rodeoing your titan. This strategy is to make sure your opponent dead even he already jump after take your battery. And also do not forget to take your own battery to fill your shield and your core ability.

You can put your firewall ability through door in every building to kill some pilots.

If there are some stalkers just punch it to prevent the explosion. For reapers it is pain in the arse, kill it with thermal shield or thermite launcher.

Do not forget that your incendiary trap can bounce on the wall and fire your thermite launcher on the wall. It will spread the flame down to your incendiary trap. I think you just need to get used to it. There is another way to ignite the incendiary trap is use your firewall ability.

Sometime i am saving my core ability to wait opponent's titan is near doomed state to get a guarantee kill. Sometime i am using it to make opponent panic and run like crazy. And let your friends in nearby to do the rest.

There is kinda strange behavior for firewall and flame core. It can travel down to your below, but you need to get closer the bridge and the platform. You can use this strategy on every bridge or lower platform like in Black Water Canal, Boomtown, Drydock, Forwardbase Kodai, Homestead, and War Games.

Sorry if my english kinda bad, because it is not my native language :)
Hope it helps any of you to be a better pilot for papa scroch :TF2_Jack:

I think in the default it will give the tracking where your thermite is going to ?
