Why are titans so weak?
i don't even bother using them cause they will die literally instantly the second i hop in, so like what's the point?

You're bad at using them. I'm not insulting you, just saying the truth.

getting good doesn't give me health, they just die super fast

Try dropping it away from the fight. If your're dropping in the middle of the chaos then yeah sometimes you'll be melted. Also Ronin (Sword Titan) is really good at tanking when blocking.

There's this neat boost called extra battery You should try it.

Titans are meant to be used tactically. You don't have the maneuverability or the health to be able to just charge straight at the enemy and fire. You have to play to the Titan's strengths.

For instance, I use Scorch primarily. This means that I can't do anything from range, really. So if I'm further than the whites of their eyes, I don't engage, and instead try to search for either teammates or chokepoints to ambush enemies when they try to run after me.

Also, use the Dash charges to slide into cover when you can, and if you see npc grunts that are in your way, kill them because they provide you with Core meter.

Hmm

1: what titan do you main? I use scorch, people say hes the easiest to kill, I usually butcher 3 titans before I even need a battery.

2: Do you keep positioning in mind? I.e do you have cover from most angles, do you know the lines of approach currently available to enemy pilots for boarding and anti titan assault?

3: is the kit you're bringing on the titan hindering or supporting how you like to play?

4: Are you using clever timing when doing a titan fall, if you guess correctly with placement its a free titan kill/pilot kill, try placing it down not when you want it but when it makes the most sense (not when youre the only titan vs 4 enemy titans)

5: Don't be afraid to leave your titan on guard mode somewhere far back while you go grab batteries of enemy titans (this ones give or take, you might die a lot trying or lose your titan anyway but hey you tried)

6: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ run when you need too, just because your titan is in crit doesn't mean its going to die or that you should go ham and die with it. Try using your defensive items to get yourself out and away from the fight using proper spacing etc

(Titans don't die that fast unless maybe the enemy team happened to collectively decide you need to die, in which case you're gonna die without support.)

short answer, get good. long answer, mind your positioning, keep your distance unless your titan is designed to be most effective up close, don't be too aggressive, know when to strike and when to retreat, don't let pilot get your battery and use electric smoke then crouch in the smoke to be most effective
cause they were a bit overpowered in the first game lol, just use the battery perk card so you can have a shield on your titan once you call him. keep using that perk until you get better at using your titan and you will be able to have an unshielded titan last for very long

I think this will be relevant. I once saw a youtuber talking about using tanks in Battlefield. I believe it was frankieonpc (still miss that dude). What he said stuck with me. He explained that you should treat the tank (or in this case the titan), as a big soldier and the big soldier dies just as quickly as a regular soldier. Basically, you treat the titan as you would treat your pilot. Mind your positioning and don't over-expose yourself, because you will regret it.

No they are quite powerful, but you do need to watch where you drop in. You can't drop in right in the middle of the action and necessarily not expect to get lit up. The instant you hop into your Titan, you need to dash out of there or otherwise get to a safer position. Generally speaking it's best to drop in a spot that at least gives you a chance to get in your Titan and orient yourself for battle.

That said, these Titans take time to get used to. Add to that, this game has been out for over 3 years, so you are likely to face a lot of veteran players.

It took me a long time to get the hang of it, even at launch of the game. I started with Scorch and then Ion. They are two of the more forgiving Titans. But I like that about TitanFall 2. There's a variety of layers in the game to sink your teeth into and learn...pilot movement, pilot weapons, the maps, and then of course the Titans.

It took me at least 4 months of playing to get good at the game. It took me a month or so to stop bringing up the rear in most matches lol. Why did I stick with it? Well like I said, it's a challenging game and I really like mech games. The over the top moments are still too cool even if I was getting destroyed lol.

Also, infantry anti-Titan weaponry can be very powerful. Scorch and Ion deal with infantry quite nicely, especially Scorch with his AoE flame damage.

Pick a Titan and stick with it. You'll keep getting better.

What you said just made me so much more confident. I started playing yesterday and I already don't bring up the rear. I still need to get my aim down, but everything else is past the noob stage for me

Also if anyone says git gud to you, kill them. Git Gud is the by far the most useless advice to tell anyone, and it's just there for other bad players to feel god about themselves by saying it. But in fact they're not even good enough themselves to know how to help you improve.
