By the way, Bendy doesn't spawn from puddles of ink, he emerges from the walls. At least, that was the case in BatIM, but I don't see why it would no longer be canon in BatDS, considering that it's supposed to take place before BatIM (or at least chapter 3).
Perhaps it does have something to do with the lack of Bendy plushes and cutouts...
And there has to be an explanation since it could really help with the plot. If Boris did whatever defense mechanism that keeps bendy away, it might also be the way to kill him without resetting the ink machine
Sometimes there is no explanation, sometimes it's just "video game logic", or like plotholes in movies. I mean, if there *was* an explanation, it would have served a purpose in the plot. But since it doesn't, maybe it's just an incoherence in the game that the developpers did not pay attention to.
I mean, in chapter 3 of BatIM, Ink Bendy cannot spawn on floor 9, where Alice resides, even though there is nothing that should be blocking him. Yet, Alice clearly wants Ink Bendy to be gone forever. So if she truly had a way to keep him away from floor 9 and even kill him, then why doesn't she try to get rid of him herself? Or even ask Henry to do it for her? Or just explain to Henry how she proceeded to keep the Ink Demon away? Pretty sure she's the kind to brag about stuff like that, since she loves talking about herself and her own "beauty".
The only explanation I could find would be the cutouts, since there are none in the safehouse and none on floor 9, but that doesn't really convince me, to be honest...
By the way, I just realized it, but you said this in your previous reply:
It looks like you've never played BatIM, or at least didn't beat the game yet, so I don't wanna spoil the ending for you but... you don't reset the ink machine. In fact, nowhere in the game is the player asked to reset the machine, nor does Henry or any other character mention doing that...
I meant killing him without ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the timeline completely
You could have just said "without using the ending thingy" then. "Resetting the machine" doesn't sound right since that's not what you do or are even asked to do.
But anyways, the ending film reel is clearly the only way to get rid of him. Why does he never go to the safehouse nor floor 9 is probably just an incoherence or some kind of video game logic.
If you really want an explanation, you could try and go ask theMeatly directly or any other member of the development team over on Twitter (or any other social media they have an account on).
