Just buy Raiders of the North; Warhammer Underworld; Blood Rage; they have OMP, and nobody is begging for those Devs to add it. Vote with your money.
Would I have liked multi-player? Yes, especially these last few months, but hindsight is 20-20. When we didn't hit the multilplayer design tier on the indigogo campaign, I wasn't upset at all, it's something i'd normally never use (I have the physical version for that).
If people wanted it so bad, demanding it before purchase is not the way. Supporting the game and the devs by buying the game (or pledging last year during the campaign) and requesting it works far better.
You can use Remote Play to play with your friends and family. It's really not that bad and if you care that much about playing this multiplayer, the option is there. I've played 2P and 3P games using it and it's fine.
Have to take turns, you all see everything at once, and you all take your actions during the same phase, but it shares One (1) mouse. So you can't say pick three cards at the same time as someone else because you are clicking and the mouse is in use.
We took turns using the mouse. My only beafs with it were multiple mouses created a situation where the mouse curser jiggled. Also it took a long time for each person to pick their cards, still very playable though.
It was playable but not a smooth experience.
Now, I am really excited about this game (and a backer, knowing that the stretch goal for online play was too far for the campaign dynamic), but the friend I usually play online with does not know the game so he probably won't be convinced if playing it is cumbersome.
I honestly don't feel it was cumbersome. It was a little slow, but then, so is playing a lot of board games IRL.
I suppose you could family share with him, then he could give it a try.
It could very well have been different resolutions. I've no idea what the remote player resolution was. We were outputting the signal via HDMI to a 65" TV. It was clear on our end.
The remote player did complain that they couldn't easily differentiate between town and city, and I do think that visual could be improved.
1. Online multiplayer is NOT on the list for immediate retail launch.
2. They have previously discussed that their internal data says that roughly 90% of their games are played by a single person, a number that is pretty normal for digital tabletop.
3. Online multiplayer will represent a significant investment of man-hours.
4. To date, at most one of their other games (Bottom of the 9th) launched with multiplayer. Sentinels of the Multiverse had it added after; neither One Deck Dungeon nor Aeon's End has had it added yet. Neither game has yet had an announcement for online multiplayer to be added.
5. Sentinels did get online multiplayer added, but only after reasonably significant sales.
6. Whether Spirit Island digital gets native multiplayer will depend on how well it sells. How well is how well? Someplace between One Deck Dungeon and Sentinels.
7. If and when multiplayer becomes something added to the features list, they will announce it. Based on the original crowdfunding stretch goal list, I suspect that the current expansion (Branch & Claw) will precede it.
The only feature missing besides England adversary, is the ability to save a game, I hope it will come as sometimes at high difficulty levels, we make a bad move, and we can only go back until a card was revealed. I have ruined a few games because of that but it is part of learning the digital version.
I hope too that you will add multiplayer eventually, but I will try Remote Play Together if I can convince my friend in Japan (I am in Canada) who does not know the game yet to buy it.
I hope also this becomes a huge success so you can add Branch & Claw, a huge upgrade I imagine, and then Jagged Earth in the future.
Thank you again for a great success so far. I am impressed :)
There's an option in the New Game screen to allow unlimited undo (under reduced difficulty options) if you prefer that.
With Remote Play Together, your friend does not need to own the game. Check out our guide for how to use it here: https://www.handelabra.com/play-online
