Bedides that, when you gain increases in stats that stick your characters no matter what job they play as. The term for this is "growth jobs ".
If you play on normal and don't plan to bother with higher difficulties in ng + , just unlock a few skills for damage types and stick with your main job.
PS : All character best main jobs are their default ones with the exception of the Detective and the Hostress
Yeah he absolutely is not wrong, but that's the point
Also, any attacks with the red dot to their left in the list of job skills are ones you get to keep for that character, so it's worth it to level up everyone to Musician level 4 to get Endless Love (casts regen on everyone), and Hosts for that ice bucket attack, which is useful against the Vagabonds in the underground dungeon that have high defense and run away, but give out huge EXP.
New Game Plus on Legend difficulty gives out crazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of job XP per battle, so don't worry about grinding them all out ion your first playthrough if you wanna go for 100%.
Probably the biggest hint I could give anyone for this game is to, when you unlock job switching, make Nanba a musician and get Endless Love immediately, and then switch him back to Homeless Guy. It's extremely helpful.
Some jobs have more skills that deals damage for multiple enemies or in an area rather than a singular enemy, while some jobs can change your character's role to support the team with heals, buffs and enemy debuffs rather than offensive.
One job you should let Kasuga get at least once is the Foreman. It unlocks an ability that destroys breakable walls to gain access to secret shops in the overworld and hidden areas in dungeons. You don't need Kasuga to stay as the Foreman for this ability.
Of course they are when they're only Rank 1 but when you rank up these jobs, these stats will catch up. You don't really need the high stats as much for the regular encounters and even doing just a few of them can raise your job ranks to 6 or perhaps even 10 already.
You might as well rank up your other jobs while you're getting EXP for your characters' levels as there will be bosses later in the story that will be tough to beat if you're underleveled.
