Ishin can be played whenever
Games released after 2016 was the new engine which include kiwami 2 and 6 (minus ishin which was unreal engine)
Judgement Games are their own thing and barely mention Yakuza powerstruggle stuff, but i think they take place between the last #'ed Yakuza game and this game. I liked Judgment the most because the combat isn't jank, and the story are very good with the same style of Yakuza kornyness thrown mainly into the side stuff.
Dead Souls is a spin off, but think it takes place after 4 (but an alternate branch thing. Game stole a lot of stuff from L4D. I never finished it, though. Gun battles were jank as hell.)
The other one...Ishin is it's own thing or maybe it's an extreme prequel idk (only played about 2 hours of it and didn't really like it.) It was originaly a Japanese only game, made at about the same time as zero. Maybe, I'll give it another try.
