What is the order in which I should play the Yakuza games, including this one?
As title please. Like I got Yakuza 0, 2 and 3 I think and this one here. What is the order and which am I missing?

Great, I have most of them save 5-6. Does the gameplay still hold? Like would playing 0 feel very clunky in comparison?

different engines so not really fair to make that comparison, yakuza 3 is the oldest in terms of engine since its the early ps3 engine which kenzan was first, so if you go from 0 to 3 youll find 3 tougher to play, but it still holds up fine to me, its like saying persona 4 doesnt hold up because of persona 5's gameplay, which is false
Games released after 2016 was the new engine which include kiwami 2 and 6 (minus ishin which was unreal engine)

You *can* play 7 if you want first, yes its a new protag, but the protag from 0-6 is in the game and spoils a bit of 6's ending, which kinda ruins the emotional value imo

Numerical Order.
Judgement Games are their own thing and barely mention Yakuza powerstruggle stuff, but i think they take place between the last #'ed Yakuza game and this game. I liked Judgment the most because the combat isn't jank, and the story are very good with the same style of Yakuza kornyness thrown mainly into the side stuff.

Dead Souls is a spin off, but think it takes place after 4 (but an alternate branch thing. Game stole a lot of stuff from L4D. I never finished it, though. Gun battles were jank as hell.)

The other one...Ishin is it's own thing or maybe it's an extreme prequel idk (only played about 2 hours of it and didn't really like it.) It was originaly a Japanese only game, made at about the same time as zero. Maybe, I'll give it another try.

Not really, Infinite wealth is another story but for 7 a lot from previous games have little to do with it outside of maybe 6.

Yeah, but that's at the very end of the game and he has little to do with the overall plot.

i started with kiwami since its the first game and well while the story is good so far the combat is atrocious the first fight against shimano was horrid i spent a good hour whittling away his HP only for him to regain it all in 2 seconds i had to resort to cheats to defeat him and he was only the 2nd or 3rd boss in the game i cant imagine how tough the rest of the bosses are

Yeah the kiwami mechanic wasn’t a good idea. It’s not a bad remake but 0 combat was so good kiwami just nerfs most of the good skills.

The combat in all the other non-turn based games is just low-tier button mashing trash. If it wasn't for the change in battle system in this game I wouldn't have any interest. Even in Yakuza 0 which is a modern game the combat is trash.

That only applies to 0-k2, 3/4/5 actually require skills, because that why theres 100 "blockuza 3" posts
