Serious Curious Question [Maybe spoilers so be warned !!!]

Now that i've played all of the main games, can someone explain me how da hell is kashiwagi and lau ka long alive in yakuza like a dragon ? Kashiwagi was obliterated by a minigun in a helicopter and Lau was headshoted right in the forehead, and both are walking on earth like nothing happened.

For kashiwagi the " explanation" is that he survided and he was in a coma.
For Lau ka long they didnt bother explaining since they would have to literally find an excuse for surviving a headshot ( not that Kashiwagi being torn to shreds by a minigun is any better).

You wont find an actual excuse. But without spoiling down the road, there are even more ridiculous "explanations" regarding old stuff .

The game is amazing but I think they tried too hard with the appearance of older characters. Sure we all liked Kasiwagi, doesnt mean you have to ressurect him

Probably has to do with the fact the director doesn’t pay too much to yakuza 3 plot threads. Pretty evident with the plot of 4.

Pretty much this. Both the fanbase and the devs themselves seem focused on reliving Zero through 2 and just want to keep seeing those characters regardless of actual plot development.

I think he means that they ignored stuff post Yakuza 2 / Kiwami 2 because both Kasiwagi and Lau ka long " died " on 3.

can i ask for the clarification for kashiwagi i just finished the game as of typing this i don't remember seeing him in LAD but lau ka lung they are just reusing him but modded as a arms dealer and its chau ka lung so brother maybe and just ref to previous entry while saving on the devs side of things atleast thats how i see it like kim for example

Kashiwagi is the bartender at Survive Bar. As for ka long, he says in a dialogue who he used to be . He basically just switched his name from Lau Ka long to Chau Ka long

And since you finished the game ( people dont read this unless you finished chapter 13) : Those 2 are not the only "weird" explanations. Even the appearance of Kazuma is not handled well. Kazuma was somehow not recognised by Watase ( he said its just some bodyguard he found, despite the fact that they have met in Yakuza 5 and in fact in Yakuza 5, he recognised Kazuma instantly due to his notoriety . Whats more at the end of chapter 13 he says to Ichiban that he cannot help since he is supposed to be dead and people cannot find the truth.....except he had just showed himself at the Omi HQ in front of DOZENS of officers who could easily recognise him . Very poor explanation to justify his appearance to pass the torch to Ichiban.

Overall there is this feeling that they empasised on appearances of previous characters liked by the fanbase and decided to ignore the events of previous games when it wouldnt suit that goal. Problem is , LAD is a main title and canon . You cant ressurect people like that . Whats next, we meet Nishiki and Fuma in Yakuza 8 ?

huh didn't really think that the barkeep was kashiwagi so huh yeah he did mention a helicopter and some ♥♥♥♥ hence why its named survive bar but i just chose not to think to hard on it and yeah just some parts are the devs cutting corners maybe
honsestly though it might be just looking to hard into it

I thought it was just a person with a similar face on purpose. Then I happened to search something for Kashiwagi and fell upon the information that he is the one in LAD as well

Watase not "recognizing" Kiryu was irony, its pretty clear that he knows him by the way he speaks, and hes just pretending that he doesn't know him because he's not supposed to exist anymore. The thing that I also find funny is how Ichiban don't know who Kiryu is. He's heard about Majima but not knowing who Kiryu is not even possible. Kiryu beacame the legend of the Dragon of Dojima in yakuza 0, in 1988 and yakuza 1 is in 2005, 17 years later and LAD begins in 2000 with Ichiban in the Tojo and at that time Kiryu was in prison but everyone knew who he was already, but for some reason Ichiban never heard of him. He didn't even conect the dots when they fought and he saw his tattoo.

Yeah true, it was very weird how he knew about all the legends of the Tojo Clan EXCEPT him. Especially after Majima flat out said next to him " huh , I knew you werent dead " at the Omi HQ . Personally I felt Kazuma appearing in the game was " forced" in order to " pass the torch " to ichi + probably a bit of fan service with his boss fight.
