I don't think your CPU is running hot and shutting itself down unless you've got inadequate cooling for your CPU. You've got a better processor than mine (Ryzen 1600) but mine ran the game without any issues or overheating, so I think the problem for you might be something else.
That being said, I'm not sure what the solution could be unfortunately. Maybe you can try to update/reinstall your drivers, or rollback to previous drivers.
Yeah I'm almost certain.
I even reinstalled Kiwami 2 just for a bit to test out my theory and it didn't run hot or shut my pc down like 6 and 7 did. I checked my fans to see if it was dusty but my fans are very clean.
If it matters I'm also using an Alienware Ultrawide as my monitor so I can get 120 hrz but that should really factor into my problem right?
Your computer should be adjusting your fan speeds and throttling your CPU once the temperatures start to go too high, all on its own (unless you've adjusted settings in your BIOS to behave differently). Your computer shutting off due to high temperatures is really unusual, especially since it seems to be happening to a few specific games only.
Okay so did some more tests.
Booted it Yakuza 7, my CPU temp was 71 C- 74 C just walking around Hello Works. Tried to do a quick battle and suddenly my audio cuts and my fans start sounding louder than usual. I forced quit the game and put my hand on the top right of my case and it was pretty hot but not burning.
I let it cool down then booted up DMCV to see if the same thing would happen. I used bloody palace as my test for about 7 minutes, I put my hand on the part on my case that was hot when I tried Yakuza and it was hot but not at the degree of before and my audio and fans were fine. Now I tried Kiwami 2 and I tested some cutscenes (because I couldn't get past cutscenes before when I first tried 7 on my desktop) and everything was fine but my audio cut out again and my fans were running loud.
Games are supposed to having my CPU temp be around 70 to 80 C correct? Is there a way to choose how my fans behave on my BIOS, I don't think i've even touched that once since I got this PC.
Since you said your fans sped up, I'm assuming that it's working as it should. The manual your motherboard came with should have details on how to adjust fan settings. You'll want to go into BIOS by pressing they key it prompts you for (for me it's the DEL key). Then, you'd want to go into H/W monitor.
I've never messed with the fan settings before, so I'd recommend watching something on YouTube that shows you how to adjust fan curves if you decide to do so. I have kept my settings at auto and I think that's fine for the vast majority of people, since the motherboard should know how to adjust the fans as it needs to.
Have you tried other solutions like reinstalling your graphics drivers or rolling them back to a previous version?
Apart from that, I'm really not sure what the problem could be since there could be a lot of factors at play :( Sorry for not being of much help.
With the 750w power supply you're right on the edge.
So I need a better power supply? Geez why is this engine so demanding?
It's not that the game's engine is demanding but rather that the RTX 3080 needs a lot of power. I totally overlooked that part but Hanzo has a good point.
Nvidia recommends a 750W minimum for the RTX 3080, so Hanzo is right in that your power supply's wattage is meeting the recommended minimum. I'm reading online that 750W should be okay for the 3080. However, this depends on the quality of the PSU.
What brand is your power supply and is it brand new or have you used it in the past with a previous build? According to this thread below, the Seasonic Focus series and EVGA GA series power supplies seem to have some issues with the 3080.

The PC I have is a prebuilt so the power supply "should" be brand new. As for what brand I'm not even sure. I never opened my case that far before but I'll check.
Yes, 750w may not be enough.
Change it to an evga 1000w supernova and you will see that you will have no more problems.
With the power supply is always better to abound than to save in terms of watts and build quality.
