I've played the game with both and the english is very well done, it is not a dub, a dub is when english is overdubbed over the original language while keeping the original's animation, meaning lip sync always looks off and sometimes even emotions don't match the audio. This was all redone in english so everything matches perfectly and the voice acting and animations are on point. Personally i prefer the english language track, the subtitles are not good, the game warns you about it, the subs are literal translations of the japanese and we all know how that goes, the english language track does a better job of communicating the intent of the original japanese script.

now that you said it. the animations of the mouths are really different. now i like this game even more. this is quality and sadly not many devs do that.

Game deserves to be played using both voices. I dont get the dialogue glitch with japanese voices but in English it is very noticeable.

There are some golden quotes in japanese.

I played the game with subs, that's how I played the entire series. But when I replay it, I'm gonna try dubs

Is yakuza Japan voice is just best option for that.

I played in English for FOTNS and Judgement, but after hearing both for the opening I went with Japanese.

The main reason was, while both the subtitles for Japanese and the English dub both clearly aren't straight translations (ugh), the English dub leaves out more Japanese culture stuff. I want that stuff in. For me Yakuza was always like a 'Japan simulator'.

Given what happens later, it definitely suits more Yakuza fans to stick with Japanese.
