Falling under a trope is not enough to make any character poorly written; that falls under an objective argument, in which case I would not say Ichiban is a bad character. He has background, motivation, flaws, etc. He develops throughout the story, for the most part. Most writers use tropes as a template then build off it, and yakuza does this effectively.
The original post you replied to was a guy stating that Ichiban was a breath of fresh air; I quoted the shounen protags to display that he shares many similarities with other shounen protags, which doesn't make him unique.
I hope we cleared this up, lol. If you respond with underhanded insults again, I will block you, my friend; as you can tell, I haven't personally insulted you once.
Ya I just wish they picked a different trope to copy T.T
Also worth noting Gon Freeces isn't saving the day too often and just scraping by, while side characters are often the determining factors in the major story events.
SPOILERS*
You learn that him living was an accident (getting shot) and everything he did leading up to finally meeting up with your old Boss again was just pure luck and coincidence because Ichaban put family first before everything else, unlike everyone else.
Ichaban is the embodiment of luck, being at the right place and the right time, and believing in family first above all else. Now if real life only worked this way.......
The Yakuza games are like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Kiryu is literally Jotaro but with character development.
Me too.
Yeah, Ichiban gets angry when someone jokes about his hair too.
Makes sense why some people want RGGS to make a JoJo game.
