I could imagine that max effect is at 999.
The rest of your points could still be used in calculations:
Enemy debuffs atk (-30%), you have an atk value of 1200 -> 1200*0.7=840 atk value after the debuff, instead of 699, if it stopped at 999 as max value.
Ofc. it's just some speculation on my end. If that is in fact true: buffing your stats, once they have reached 999, will do nothing.
Anyone knowing how it actually works: please correct me.

So I believe the max stats is 9999 for every stat. Of course, getting all the stats to max on one character, nevermind all seven of them without cheating will take months of grinding because IIRC all the stat boosters are behind minigames and they aren't cheap to get a hold of either -the other method is buying the stat boost DLC repeatedly but that's really expensive for the purpose it serves. But judging from the video above, just having one character with that kind of buffed stats (he didn't even max them all) pretty much trivializes the game.
