Just Started Playing
I just started playing this, and I am enjoying it, except for the side jobs. I do not like the timed ones, as I seem to mostly fail those. No problem, but now it seems all the side jobs are the timed variety, and it doesn't change each week. It's just the same ole jobs day in/ day out.

In the grand scheme of things, this is not a huge deal, but to me, it would improve the gameplay to have more variety. Mix up the jobs every week or something.

All the jobs will be available in any town you go to. Drive to a small nearby town in same day and accept the time jobs and there is no way you can fail unless you crash multiple times.

I understand, but a 2 minute timed job in a town that is 9 square blocks takes under 1 minute. Just make sure you only accept a timed job when you're in a small town. They pay the same, regardless.

Honestly, I stop doing any jobs after I make enough cash to operate without them.

I tried the idea. Thanks. It helps, but now my van breaks down too often, which eats the profits.

I enjoy the little side jobs, just wish they varied more often

Remember to busk until all your band members are at 20 playing skill. Nothing like free talent points.

Thank you. I did do that. Now, all I get from busking is xp and money.

Once you get everyone to skill 20 at Playing, you need to start putting points into it. You will still gain an added point on occasion from practicing, but it is pretty rare. My rule of thumb is to NEVER put points into playing until the player has 20 skill. It is also important to remember that even if 4 of your members have 60 skill at playing, one member with 30 brings them all down and limits the overall playing skill of the band. Try to level the whole band to 70.

Two other skills I never invest in are Repair and Business. Happiness can be raised from 5 points a pop just by TRYING to repair stuff, and Repair skill rises with actual successfully repairing. I recruit a Mongo for every band who has repair skill and keeps the others from breaking stuff when they are repairing. Once all the band members are decent at repair I fire Mongo and get someone with a needed skill. This strategy can make a LOT of cash in early game by fixing gear and reselling it.

As for business skill, I am hoping that Todd will do something in a future patch that inputs pitfalls that cost a LOT when a band has no business sense, Until then, the marginal benefits go by the wayside as you can still make a fortune in game without it.

Side Job's are for me a huge part of this game and a serious problem with the game is how quickly they vanish... Sure this might be a game about a band but I honestly enjoy the side job portion more then the band part... Why do the side gig's dry up so fast... And as far as timed mission's I have had any problem accomplishing them... But I could agree maybe not to add more timed missions going forward but we definitely need more SIDE MISSIONS NOT CLOTHING......

I think that Todd intended side jobs to be a way to make ends meet until that first contract. After all, how many musicians produce a hit album then immediately leave the studio to jump in a van delivering packages for Amazon.
