Lead Singer also a Guitarist/Musician?
I don't know if this has been talked about. I tried searching for it.

I know a lot of Metal bands have lead singers that also do guitar/bass (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc)

Even Bob Dylan, Tom Petty & Janis Joplin played guitar while singing. Is that going to be included here in some point?

I usually have 5-person bands with two guitarists, a bassist & a drummer backing up my singer. But I always think of metal bands when I am setting up my lineup and would love to have the lead singer also be a guitarist/bassist.

I doubt a three-person lineup like Primus wouldn't be possible in this game I don't think, but would love to have an option or feature that the lead singer can also plan an instrument. Even some new wave 80s bands had that (Flock of Seagulls comes to mind)

And if I wanted to do a country-type themed band, most of them are musicians too and not just singers.

Yeah, I'm rambling, but just trying to make a point.

That's my biggest issue with this game, otherwise, I love it. My band, Avalon, is doing quite well right now.

It has been addressed by Todd. I don't recall the specifics but there are some limitations I believe with the engine and what animations can be added. I do not know if that is 100% correct but I know Todd has been responding on the subject and most things that can be done are usually done shortly after Todd reads the post.

Alright. Gotcha thanks, and btw, your guide certainly helped me out getting my band going in this game. Just thought I'd mention that here as well.
Thanks....Todd keeps improving the game so fast parts of it are outdated.:steamhappy:

It's alright, it got me and my band where it needed to go :lunar2019coolpig:
well be aware the hit song mechanic has been updated and is a LOT more nuanced than it was when I wrote it.
I imagine we will eventually get some form of singer/songwriter animation. Since my latest build is exactly that I am eagerly awaiting it.

Yeah I would love to have something like that I don't quite like having a 5-person band even though it helps with songwriting and whatnot. Since I do mainly metal themed bands, I'd rather keep it at 4 members.

I know bands like Iron Maiden have had at least 5 members (at times 6) and Anthrax has had 5 as well, but I'm not keen on that sort of setup. I'd rather have the singer fill up a guitar position as well. I guess I can only hope
Well, to be honest, while I do listen to the song files that I attach to each song, I don't pay much attention to the band animations at the gigs. I have 4 band saves, a normal 5 piece with a singer, guitar, bass, drum, and keyboard. I have a 5 piece with two guitars, bass, drum, keyboard. A 4 piece with all but the singer, and my current solo act with guitar only.
My main is a vocalist/lyricist, and it sucked when the attitude was instrumental/low-energy/basic musicianship for a couple of months. Holding an acoustic guitar during the instrumentals would have been nice, though not sure how intricate it would be to add.
Being a musician himself, Todd is probably working on it.

As @Bohemian Rap City mentioned, it is a technical issue, primarily with animation. Sure, I could have a single animation of a musician standing by a mic stand to do the singing, but that would severely limit the cool animations that musician can do. I have to evaluate all of the animations and figure out the best balance of standing by the mic and still doing high stage presence animations. It will most likely limit the possible animations, or maybe there will just be a mic stand on stage, and the musician/singer doesn't actually stop to sing into it. Another option is headset microphones, but not everyone will want that. In any case, it's on the list of things to do.

Todd my band is just 4 guys. Rhythm, lead, bass, drums. I just pretend lol they are singing. We still drive crowds crazy often. Mic stands on stage short distance out in front from the players would not effect the existing movement animations? I don't think? Face does not have to be near them. Maybe that could work? Plus band has to buy mics and maintain. Plus that front wall of 3 guitars looks darn good.
