I mean thats his point you can only use certain guys in certain spots to be successful for the most part lol. I would like to see some expansion of characters and maybe a simple skill tree to make them even more unique and interchangeable (rather than just leveling up 2 attacks) in the prequel
0 Ascension but I just won with blood mage, cleric, bard, druid, the fallen. Basically the closest I could be to a healer only party. All mini-bosses slain. Was fun.
Bloodmage goes down to 0hp. Codex triggers letting him spam his ability, Headdress gives + 36 atk every proc and Crown stops him from dying for 15secs. After awhile each ability is doing multiple thousands of damage.
I was running Saints Vow, Vampiric Guard, and Ancient Codex. It was dope.
I also tried experimenting in a different run with Ancient Codex for Cleric self-heal-tanking (which someone else also mentioned) and it's pretty decent once the Codex is upgraded as long you don't try to make it work against stun/silence and watch out for overwhelming high burst damage.
One run I tried using "secondary" healing sources as my only healing - a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of minor blessings, Brain Sage, etc. Combined with items that help at low HP it was pretty fun to have my frontline become virtually invulnerable to non-burst damage.
