Can't Play A Single Video
Downloaded the HEVC on my computer like it says on the PINNED discussion, but I can't play a single video on the app. I click play and nothing plays H.265, mp4, mkv, nothing. Does anyone know why this would be the case and how I could fix it?

If Media Foundation is the default then yes, I am using it in DeoVR. I don't have Directshow or Unity player on.

Tried that guy's fix with deleting those files and reinstalling with the program but it's still the same.

Is there any system log or other info I could provide for more info?

Since the app isn't crashing, there might not be a log file, and the log file for the released build probably doesn't contain enough info to figure out what the issue is. I'll need to work on making a useful log.

Can you try uninstalling your HEVC extension and also Windows Media Player: https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/how_to_install_or_uninstall_windows_media_player_in_windows_10.html

Restart your computer after the uninstall, and then reinstall Windows Media Player and the HEVC extension. If you haven't already, backup and delete your saved HereSphere files at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\HereSphere (replace UserName with your info).

No luck with any of that either, didn't have WMP even installed but I installed it: no luck, uninstalled both and restarted: nothing, reinstalled both: nada.

Deleted user files too, no go.

Dang, I'm pretty stumped at this point. The only other suggestion I'd have is a fresh OS install, but that's really inconvenient, and might not solve the issue if the root cause is something with HereSphere and your hardware.

I still plan on adding additional media playback options next year, if you have the patience to wait and try again. I'll let you know if I come up with any other ideas.

I appreciate all your suggestions. I've actually got a spare ssd, will try a fresh install on it in the next few days and let you know how it goes.

So it works just fine on a separate installation. Installed just the bare essentials and it played perfectly right away. Then installed every windows update available and it still worked fine so I guess something must have gotten corrupted or wonky on my original drive because it literally stopped working overnight after a system update.

Thanks again for all your help, and thank you for making the best vr video player out there!

Awesome! Fingers crossed it stays that way. Thanks for trying out all the suggestions, and let me know if you run into any more issues.

I have a lot of files that I can't play with HereSphere Demo, but DeoVR works normally in default and directshow modes. Only alternative mode is not working.
MPC-HC also plays these files as expected.

What can I do? How can I enable application log?
"%localappdata%\HereSphere\Saved\Logs"
Logs folder is empty.

Strange, the video format is mpeg-ts but it's using an mp4 container. Can you try installing this extension: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/mpeg-2-video-extension/9n95q1zzpmh4#activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Maybe also try renaming the file to mpg. I'm not sure if Media Foundation support mpeg-ts files, though. Once I'm able to implement the mpv playback backend, I think video compatibility issues like these should be resolved, but I still haven't had time to finish implementing it, yet.

Thanks. it worked with .mpg extension. I had previously tried .ts, .mpeg, .mpeg2 etc. :D
MPEG2VideoExtension was already installed.

No idea why some files are in wrong format (downloaded with yt-dlp with ffmpeg enabled).

Same problem here. Tried everything I could but nothing works. Is the demo version same as the full version? Also, works perfectly on deovr...

Demo version is basically the same as the full version in terms of functionality, so if you're unable to get videos to play on your system, I'd recommend using a different player for now.

After looking closer, it seems that some of my videos had the incorrect filename extension.

Once renamed from .MP4 to .WEBM, the thumbnail is created, but the video which is vp9/vorbis still not working, while the basic "Movies and TV" windows default player can play them.

I tried again to reinstall the K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1720_Basic.exe instead, but still not working.

Its sad since this VR player had better perfomance than others (while offering great features like multiple settings during a single video), but it lacks of internal codec support.

Maybe try to use ffmpeg libs like MPV player does instead of relying on installed codecs on a system.
