what is the best way to run the app on the pico 4 headset? do I get it on the desktop or on the headset?

There isn't a native app for the Pico 4 yet, so you'll have to use the PC version and stream it to your headset using something like the Pico Streaming Assistant or Virtual Desktop. A native app should be released later this year.

My friend might buy a headset just for the app, what headsets is it available on natively? will the quest 3 be on the high priority list to add?

Currently, the Quest line of headsets (Quest, Quest 2, Quest Pro) has a native HereSphere app available on itch.io. The Quest 3 will probably work with the current native app as it is, though I'm planning on releasing a major update before the Quest 3 is released.
