It is not a red herring. It's needed for the washing machine. Remember:

Parentheses (simplify inside 'em)
Exponents
Multiplication and Division (from left to right)
Addition and Subtraction (from left to right)

below is the math in calculation and step by step with the rules to follow to reach the solution

(Parenthesis is always first) then the next order is to multiply and divide before adding or subtracting

ignore 30 for now, 4 squared is 16, root of 81 is 9, 5 squared = 25x5 = 125

so the top should be like 30+16+9+125 (16+9 = 25 + 125 = 150 + 30 = 180)

so the top is 180

now bottom, parenthesis first, although it's null because after 6-5 = 1 you're multiplying 2x1 which nothing changes

4x4 = 16 divided by 16 = 1 + 2 = 3

so bottom is 3

180 over 3 = 60 because 60x3 = 180

for me the confusion was trying to find an 8 digit number for the keypad, but there was 1 less number, even if anything, no zeros were on the keypad, that's why I was confused overall

but that's the math behind it, if anyone ever wanted to know
