Also, I think 3 had the most mixed reception, and is seen as the worst, so yeah, probably not a lot of demand for it.
I think it is, and the devs would have a foundation for it but it cost more for the company to recreate all the stuff so usually they took the lazy way and just fixing some compatibility issues, framerate, 21:9 support and make it HD then boom "pc port ready game". a remake wouldn't be a bug fest as most of the console ports are. respect for the rare exceptions.
And don't forget characters and changes to some of the games that have been subsequently gifted onto earlier ones in the series.
With this in mind, I'm looking forward to Disgaea 7 coming out, followed at some point by Disgaea 6. ;)
I never really got the hate for 3. I think it's pretty good, main character might be a bit obnoxious but D2 and D4 also have annoying characters. And the graphics were pretty poor for a PS3 game. In fact, it looks like it started out as a PS2 game. But D3 also has double skills (team skills? I forget the name), something I wish would be reintroduced in the series. And if I recall, it introduced Evilities and stacking skills. Good game, definitely not the best. But I also want Soul Nomad, Makai Kingdom, and La Pucelle. Maybe Zettai Hero Project too.
Im pulling my hair out when i see these type of comments "graphics is sux"
Yeah its 2020, everything is super real and even more they put you in the super real games thru VR but really that's what REAAALLY needs for a game to be good?
Maybe im old but i like to stick for old or old looking games because back in there the quallity of the games were good and did not blast the money on just the graphics.
A game's purpose is to bring entertaiment for you. If you can enjoy Pong from 1972 with your friend then it's a good game and earned its success. Having nice grahics is good but should be not the number 1 thing on the list. It's sad that D3 got a low reputation and many dislikes in the series. Still hoping that they will bring it to PC and people will actually buy it.
D3 isn't that liked and while D3 doesn't have everything that D4 has, it's close enough. D2 and D1 are the real backwater games where going down there after playing any of the somewhat newer games can be quite painful, unless you play these games for the cutscenes only.
They are comparing Tech-level to end result though. I'm likewise of the opinion that gfx shouldn't have to matter if the game is any good to begin with and the focus these days seems to be more on gfx (by devs) than gameplay (what people actually want) which is why we got a couple of major flops the last 2 years.
HOWEVER
I do agree with people that D3 has the worst gfx when it comes to the techlevel of those days; doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it any less though.
It's not the only reason D3 got mixed results though....the characters were WAY too tsundere/yandare for western crowds, the classroom setting didn't help that NOR was the system of the classroom setting enjoyed as much (many thought it was overly complex for little reward) and the campaign HQ was a direct result of that. Character creation was extremely limited and WAY too progress locked and to top it all off the story was 1 big drama-queen show (though I can relate with Mao...I've spent a grand total of 32K hrs in the entire disgaea series (plus spinoffs/side-branching stories) so it kinda struck home. It was a love it or hate it kind of Disgaea....and I loved it for the same reasons and arguments I have about D5: it added complexity to the game (something D5 does have....but in having it it takes away any aspect of challenge to the game. IMHO D5 is THE perfect beginners disgaea with DD2 following suite closely....but if you want the challenge then play D2/D3 or the spinoffs Makai Kingdoms (Also called Makai Wars) or Phantom Brave
