IN-GAME PURCHASES?
Define IN-GAME PURCHASES? Assuming the word Complete still means what it use to. I have never seen a Disgaea game with that before? It is still single player with no online right?

If i am not wrong in this game D4+ should have online.

This is a port of the Switch/PS4 version, which is called "Disgaea 4 Complete+" .
Judging from what happened with D5, that doesn't guarantee online functionality, simply that the base game being ported is the Switch/PS4 version.
If those versions had in-game purchases, this one probably will, too.

on the store page it sais that there will be online functionality but its not going to be released with it imidiatly. instead it's going to be patched in at a later day. (whenever this may be)

d4 is probably the only disgaea game where online even does anything at all with the pirate tourney and unlocking pleinair for example. costum maps are always kind of ♥♥♥♥ and only really used for trophy/exp/HL exploitative stuff instead of making interesting challenge stages.

The PS4 version was updated with temporary booster packs that you could buy to pretty much cheat your way through the game if you want and I'm not talking about the Cheat shop which is 100% free. The boosters came in the same pack as community challenges that you can take part in to get points to buy super strong weapons, armour, item and other things.
In short its boosters that can be easily ignored and doesn't take away from the game in the slightest.

microtransactions in a full price single player game is extremely shady... also who buys this crap, dont people know you can use cheat engine?

My question with them - was the game re-balanced to encourage buying these items or was it left untouched? I put several hundred hours into the original D4 and not a single one of these items would really be worth buying as you can very easily achieve what they're selling for no cost in game. Assuming the game hasn't been rebalanced.

Yep. No need to buy.
If someone wants to use money its ok. nobody knows (or care) what you do in your own game
:D

I don't think the in-game purchases matter much. One has to be dumb to buy stuff that loses its value too fast in a disgaea game (or perhaps One just wants to have "every" DLC stuff for the sake of having it which is fine). Disgaea are the kind of games you break really fast if you put a bit of time into them making all that stuff kinda useless. No way in hell I'd pay a cent for any or even all of that stuff.

For example the 10 Gency Exit set is kinda dumb. The game immediately gives you 5 Gency Exits once you unlock the item world and one more in the 5th floor of your first item. That's more than enough to get used to the item world, and once that happens you'll be getting lots and lots of them while you play. It's most likely that you'll never find yourself in a Gency Exit scarcity or something lol.

Other objects can kinda accelerate your early game so you can break the game sooner but still don't think they're worth it since a good use of the cheat shop and the first maps can also do that. Except the level up items which are very powerful (and for me it would ruin the feeling of accomplishment after getting characters to lvl 1000 or 9999), but you'll still get to a point when they become useless.

Who uses Cheat Engine in a Disgaea game?

I mean, you can use it mostly for the fun of it but the game already gives you tons of ways to "cheat" through the game. Even if you use cheat engine, I don't think you'd ever use it to get the purchasable items. Perhaps to get some perfect rank 40 (Or whatever it is in this game) fully leveled weapon, but not to get a few puny level up items.

Balance word doesn't fit into Disgaea and that's what I like about the game lol

As far as I am into the game (not too far, getting to lvl 30 with some characters at chapter 2) it seems to be nice old disgaea. A few runs into item world and I think everything will start exploding. I already have more Gency exits that I'll ever need at a time so yeah, in-game purchases already seem like meh to me.

It refers to the microtransactions they tacked on. Where you can buy items for real money.
It's completely unnecessary and I would chide anyone who actually uses it on account of how simple it is to get those items through normal gameplay (you don't even need experience boosters thanks to the cheat shop being unlockable as early as chapter 2).

As someone else pointed out, ultimately you could use Cheat Engine to the same effect without spending money. But as a reply said, why use cheat engine on Disgaea when the grind is its whole spiel?

Just a minor correction there, but you can unlock it in Chapter 1. As soon as you unlock the senate it's possible. Only costs a paltry 10 mana if I recall correctly, and has a decent success rate (I think it was 74% when I did it? Around there anyway.).

Correct on all accounts xD

Thanks for the correction. I was just a lemon and didn't bother doing it until after I'd finished chapter 1 myself.

Youre making my point for me... if people wouldnt use cheats that are available for free why would they use cheats that they have to pay for?

As for what you can do with cheat engine? pretty much anything you can imagine.

Some useful things would be guaranteed dupes, removing heavy RNG, general time saving.

Wait. Who said you'd have to pay for those cheats? You can do a lot of free "cheating" in the game.

And no, they wouldn't use cheats that they have to pay for, since with some time they can get all of that and more without using cheat engine.

About the thinks you can do with cheat engine, that's what I said. You can use it for lots of things but there is no reason to use it just to level up.

So, I don't think the following holds at all:

First because the price at steam is not a full price single player game, and second, because those purchases are completely optional and even worthless. Nobody having played a disgaea game will care at all unless:
1. You want to have it all.
2. You get lazy after playing too much disgaea and want to get your first characters to lvl 9999 without any effort.
3. As they say next, you care about supporting a company which has made so many so good games keep doing their stuff.
