Official FAQ
What is the genre of Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground?
Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is a hex-based, turn-based strategy game. The game is about building your army and upgrading your units, to make war in the Mortal Realms. It’s a dynamic turn-by-turn combat, coupled with some card game mechanics and some rules from the tabletop Warhammer game. The goal of the game is to use your resources and the special abilities of your units and heroes to wipe out the enemy warband.

How many factions does the game have?
The game has 3 playable factions: the Stormcast Eternals, the Nighthaunt, and the Maggotkin of Nurgle. Each faction has a very unique playstyle as well as some dedicated heroes that are the most powerful units in your warband. You will use close range or long range units, and spells that are specific to the faction you’re playing.

You mentioned card game mechanics, does that mean the game will have micro-transactions?
No, the game will not feature micro-transactions. The card game mechanics are only here for displaying information about your units (health, armor, movement, cost), and visualizing the upgrades you can equip on them. At its core, Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is a strategy game, not a card one.

At what time does the game release?

The game releases at 0:01 CEST on May 27. This means that the game will be available at 18:00 on May 26 for the east coast of America, and at 15:00 for the west coast.

Will more factions or content be added later on?
The team is exploring new ways to add content in the game. The team is fully focused to ensure a smooth launch and be on top of player feedback for now. We’ll share more visibility on what could come next later.

Is there a narrative campaign?
Yes, the campaign mode follows the story of your hero trying to invade or defend the Mortal realms, depending on the faction you chose to play. There is also randomized progression in the campaign mode: you will get random rewards and new arenas to fight in for every new run. This way, you will get a fresh experience every time you engage in a campaign, but you will keep your progression on upgrading your heroes.

What multiplayer modes will the game include?
The game will include a classic Deathmatch mode in which you will have to kill the enemy hero, as well as a “Soul Prison” mode in which the objective is to destroy the enemy’s prison.

Will there be customization options?
Yes! Pre-sets of beautiful designs will be available in the game as you progress through your campaigns, but you also will have the option to paint your armies with different colors.
