Tutorial
I’ve played the tutorial at least 8 times and have only beat the Crystals fight (Wizard using the wand) once, even on easy. Am I missing something or is the tutorial unnecessarily brutal?

Tutorial is really brutal, that's ok.

Tutotial is REALLY brutal. Yea, made feel bad but I put most options (except feats/attributes per level) on easy. It's still brutal. o.o But quite fun so far. :- ) I only hope bugs are trimmed off, specially crashes (I rarely get them on other games, got about a dozen during tutorial so far).

Is the tutorial connected to the main game?

It's a separate module from the main game. The characters don't carry over.

Can you grind i.e. kill respawns in Augury, so as to kind of deal with the brutal difficulty in a way? I liked to have that option in KotC1.

Nope. There's a limited amount of experience in the module. You can, however, increase your own power via the options and such.

any solution to the cypher puzzle in Tutorial?
Rogan Mar 26, 2022 @ 8:58am
I believe not being able to grind is a bad design choice, specially in a ridiculously hard game (this is from a 40 yo veteran of such games point-of-view). Also, high-end crafting requires experience. Limiting experience also limits crafting. This doesn't make much sense and reduces fun. Players should have the freedom to make the game as tough or somewhat easier as they want, just like KotC1.

BTW: the tutorial is not brutal, it's just so stupidly hard it's borderline unbalanced. I can still see the potential and fun in the game and do not regret buying it, though.

I'm stuck at the necromancer fight. Literaly can't do anything. The wizard gets to act when the battle starts then we all get stunned and no one can do anything. I don't get the bull rush thing either. It never works. The enemy is in front of me and it says unreachable. I don't mind a game being brutal and like a challenge but this seems to be badly designed for a tutorial. Not giving up though. I'll try again.

EDIT: Well I beat the necromancer. Passed the gelatinous cubes and got to the merchants. I really think the Tutorial should be remade to give you all the info you need before putting you in the big fights like the necro. Otherwise if people stop playing the tutorial at that point they'll miss the information.

I am, currently, past that & am having a blast...with only 2 reloads per a couple of tough encounters. (on the default settings)
With some experience towards these types of games, I can't say it is brutal...but it is, wonderfully, challenging.
If I can offer anything per advice, it is
...be patient & thorougly think your way through the fights.
I, highly, recommend the tutorial for its' insights per the info & mechanics of how this gem is to be played.
It feels like a campaign in its own right & I will add...I have had zero (knock on wood) crashes; & that is using a win 7 & win 10 gaming laptops.
btw...GOG version.

I've had one crash to desktop in 7.5 hours with the game so it's good. I'm playing on default too but I still think it's poorly balanced. I'm only level 2 and I'm encountering goblins or something like that that put my entire party confused/berserk with one spell during the tutorial. Haven't encountered a lot of games like this during my 35 or so years of gaming and I played the likes of Wizardry, Gold box RPG's like Pool of Radiance, Might and Magic series, Fallout series (1,2, tactics), Temple of Elemental Evil (Troika 2003), Elminage Gothic (that one is brutal), a lot of others that don't come to mind and more recently the Souls series (now with Elden Ring), I'm not afraid of a challenge and will still play the game but it needs some work. Especially for the price it is. Anyways that's my 2 cents.

After finishing the tutorial got 2 achievements.
It was a nice experience.
Best tutorial ever.

Not quite done yet, & I rarely play tutorials.
I have to agree, this one has been great fun.

The actual game has been made significantly easier from its initial release in early access. Pierre added more encounters and thus more experience. Before, it was damn near impossible to get past level 2 before you left the opening village; this time my characters were level 3-4.

The best advice I can give people who are having a difficult time is to take the feat "improved initiative" on at least all of your casters. Being able to regularly go first in an encounter means you can avoid those nasty "oh ♥♥♥♥ my entire party is stuck/dazed/nauseated..."
SpiralRazor Mar 31, 2022 @ 6:20am
Improved initiative is basically a must have, pretty much for all characters. being able to stay of the ahead of the curve(mostly) in turn order is a huge advantage in tactical games.
