For example: Bandai Namco gets it. They have so many great sales and deals on their anime games, which makes their playerbase and fanbase grow exponentially.
I hope Koei Tecmo adapts a more consumer friendly approach in the future. Can't help but feel they are milking the wallets of their most loyal fans.
Even Activision has had better sales/pricing on certain Call of Duty games and they’re dreadful with sales. But none of them have the gross DLC that KT games do. I’ve wanted to get Atelier on PC for years but the sales are awful. I already bought quite a few on PS3 and PS Vita… meanwhile I triple dipped on Senran Kagura, Neptunia games both digitally on Vita and PC for cheaper than buying the Atelier games.
I’d maybe pay the ridiculous “sale” prices if not for the abusive dlc that doubles the cost back. That spoils every game for me from the publisher so I keep that in mind when looking at their sales. People hyper focus on how bad Konami is as a company but they release barely anything anyway, companies like KT are the real issue. If they weren’t Japanese they’d get a lot more flack.
And to be fair it isn't just Koei. The largest JP publishers are following this trend: Ignoring / barely discounting regional currency difference, setting record high base prices, adding DLC equal to or greater than base game. This is the future. One price regardless of platform, digital or physical versions.
"To be fair" That doesn't make this fair nor does "because others do it make it right". It's very simple if that's the future less and less people buy the games.
I mean EA isn't as bad as KT, they had all the sims 3 expansions for around 70usd this last steam sale, which is a lot of content, though still a high price, but it is hard to argue you don't get a lot for the money spent in that case. KT on the other hand don't really discount any of there stuff beyond small sales.
Just don't buy that. The actual game itself is great and is definitely worth the money, the season pass (like all Koei SPs) is only worth it if you're rich, have weird anime fetishes, like throwing away money, or all of the above.
the "limited edition growth lacrima are in the season pass as well and the outfits are either available seperatly or as a outfit bundle so the deluxe edition is not worth it at all and i regret buying it :D
@Kapika96 the overpriced seasonpass also inclused the 3 playable dlc character bundles as well as the extra "hard" quest thing and the dungeon "a rift in time and space"
so while it is still overpriced its not only cosmetic stuff :D
and if you believe that this game is "definitely worth the money" for the full price
as a fan of the show id say your definitly wrong there are so many missing character/models and so many cut corners that the game is not even worth being a AAA title let alone a price tag that is still higher than other AAA titles nowadays
sadly in case of this game its treated same way hollywood treats almost all of theyr life action anime adaptations with a mediocre product that just wants to cash in on the name recognition from fans (like avatar the last airbender and dragonball evolution movies)
