Mac version cancelled?
I played through the demo on my Mac, but the store page now indicates that only a Windows version will be available. When did that change?

Hey, we haven't announced anything official yet, but based on my experiences trying to work with Apple over the past few years, and the amount of time and resources required to maintain builds on their platform, it doesn't seem likely that I will try to launch a Mac version after all. This is very sad to me because I wanted to get the game playable for as many people as possible, but Apple has not made it feasible for me as a solo developer.

Whatever happens with this game, due to my experiences with Apple, my current stance is that I will never attempt to release software on the Mac platform again, and I will encourage gamers to avoid their platform for gaming.

The demo seemed to run well on Windows emulation options for Mac, so hopefully the full game will as well.

Aww... that's a shame. I also played through the demo on my Mac and was looking forward to the full release.

Proton is so good these days, you'll probably be just fine playing it on your Mac.

There's no Proton for Mac, sadly.

Oh dang. Maybe a Linux VM would serve you well? UTM is free and good, and you could also look at Parallels or even VirtualBox.
isn't there like, Wine for this? I used parallels professionally for a time and I hated it.

Discovering literally less than an hour before release that the Mac version had been cancelled due to Apple being stupid was disappointing but understandable, as they seem to be actively hostile at times to the idea of people using their os for gaming. That said, it's all I have access to on the pc front. And I was so looking forward to playing the full version after absolutely loving the demo.

Any chance of a Switch release in the future?

Switch seems like a great match, but of course for mobile gaming in general I'll probably personally get a Steam Deck in the future.

The Windows compatibility layer for Mac is called “crossover”, but last I checked, Steam itself was pretty sluggish, and even simple games choppy. Maybe that changed by now but I wouldn't bet on it.

Sad that there's no mac version... the demo was really wonderful. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Best wishes, and I hope the rollout exceeds your dreams.

Some Discord users have confirmed that the game runs on Mac through VMware+Windows (and VMware is free for personal use).

Thank you! Now to figure out how to find this free personal use version of VMware and get it running...

For some Mac users, Whisky may also work: https://github.com/Whisky-App/Whisky
Effectively Wine, of which Proton is a fork, but with a wrapper to run on M-series chips MacOS. May be easier than installing an entire windows VM, if it works and you have the right hardware. And unlike Crossover, it's free open source software.

I tried this on an Intel Mac with Wine and it didn't launch at all, so no joy there and I've had to request a refund. I would love it if this game one day gets a Mac release, even if updates are rare and out of synch with the Windows build.

As an Apple user I'm obviously unhappy when a developer decides/is forced to not release a Mac port of his game, anyway I'm here just to say that the game runs perfectly under CrossOver (on M2 MacBook Pro).
