Fix for Vista/7/8 crash on launch (netman.dll/iphlpapi.dll)

If you have the game crashing on launch using Windows Vista, 7 or 8, go to the game's install folder and delete the file iphlpapi.dll. The file shipped with the game is outdated, and relies on an outdated netman.dll, and when you delete it, the game will revert to the much newer version included with Windows.

Keep in mind that every time you run the "Verify file integrity" check for the game, Steam will redownload the outdated file, and you have to delete it again in order to play the game.

Didn`t work for me. Tried every option from forums - nothing works. Finally i tried to overwrite it with GOG version and delete iphlpapi.dll - now i can play

renaming the SteamApps\common\DarkStar One\iphlpapi.dll to anything else worked worked well for me, Windows 7 64-bit. Before that it could not start the game.

Omg I have windows 8 and this fixed the problem!! I tried to run in xp compatibility but this error kept popping up. But after I deleted the file you mentioned, every thing works perfectly!
