I doubt it. The amazing developer, Ascaron, went out of business.

actually didnt alot of the guys form ascaron make a new company? because awhile back i read they were making a new game that is supposedly going to be just like sacred 2 but better.not sure if they kep tthe name ascaron or not but i know they are working on a new game that will be just like sacred....cant remember the name of it though.can probably look around on the sacred 3 forums because this is where i found out about it.

but if the majority of the same people made this new company then it could be possible they could do the same here but name it diffrently as well if they cant get the rights to the name.

and holy crap just noticed this is really old....o well here it is anyways!

Ya, I wish! This is the only space fighting game I like. Have tried all others people suggested in past but they were all more strategy based where I like the more RPG along with almost arcade type gameplay but still has exploration. Very unique game.

Have you really played Freelancer? Freelancer is much better than this. I like DS One too but Freelancer, any day.

Well, 3 years down the line, I join you guys in opining that Darkstar One was/is amazing, and I really wish there was a remake or sorts or a next installment, like Darkstar One 2! More fun than Freelancer for me, and the only one (of the ones I have played) that evokes memories of Elite on my ZX Spectrum! (old f@rt here).

try X3...all

@Groparu, I own X3 Terran Conflict but have never played it. I was discouraged by the fact that it is purported to be mostly about building economic empires in space. Is it true that the exploration/combat aspect is secondary to (micro)managing an economic network?

X3 isn't what you'd call pick up and play. If you want the big ships you really have to become an economic powerhouse.

A lot of stuff can be automated though, you can set ships up to run trade routes (obviously I'd provide some escort as well). The exploration is there but you can all too often stray into a zone with lots of bad guys around and explode, often.

X3 is definitely not for people who want an experience like this game or Freelancer.

Now if I could just get this game to not crash I would play it. It was fine before MS decided it'd be a good idea to do yet another worthless feature update near the holidays, hasn't run properly since. Freelancer is still fine though, but that's finished in a couple of hours with no point to doing anything after.

x 3 is GREAT for every space player....small and fast ships....adrenaline...bigbig ships with some armada with you...build stations....make money...you can have mods with what you dream after vanilla

Have you guys tried Rebel Galaxy

“Rebel Galaxy might just be the successor to Freelancer that many gamers have been craving for, a space-based video game that gives gamers the freedom to pursue their space dreams and use their ship to try and get that big score that will make them wealthy or famous or both. Darkstar One is a wonderfully created game.

It has a lot of things from many game types mixed into one.

Features like in Freespace (1 & 2), Descent (1, 2, & 3), and many more.

I loved the Descent type missions very much.

Sadly Darkstar Two most likely will not happen unless people in the community get together to make it.
