Direct X is an API, not a driver. Drivers are supplied by hardware manufacturer for example a GPU. Both are totally different from each other.
backwards compatibility is not always 100% when there are so many variables like all the different hardware combinations a PC can have... there are plenty of game without some sort of fix or workaround that dont work on windows 10 there are plenty more variables that change on a new windows iteration
You won't be able to complete the installation due to the fact that some of the drivers are unsigned, e.g. lirsgt.sys which seems to have something to do with TAGES disk copy protection.
if you do get it to install on Win 7, it won't start due to similar issues.
I think/hope these drivers only relate to DRM, so I believe that these issues would not happen with a Steam version.
I'm saving up to buy the steam version, i think/hope it will work.
certain drm's were patched out at a certain point. Perhaps you ran it before microsoft deployed those patches.
