Why wouldn't the game work on windows 10? I am puzzled to see why people even ask this. It uses Direct X which are designed solely to be backwards compatible. The whole purpose of Direct X existence is to unify hardware components with common drivers supplied by hardware manufacturer and maximize compatiblity with prior versions.

Direct X is an API, not a driver. Drivers are supplied by hardware manufacturer for example a GPU. Both are totally different from each other.

backwards compatibility is not always 100% when there are so many variables like all the different hardware combinations a PC can have... there are plenty of game without some sort of fix or workaround that dont work on windows 10 there are plenty more variables that change on a new windows iteration

Windows 10 user, I got no problems running the game, DX9 got installed again when I fired the game up after upgrading, no problem there. :D

Runs just fine on my Windows 10 x64 system. You may need to view a 'Guide' on a certain error if you get it... for me it just started right up as far as I recall. I think there was one was one weird graphical error/bug using the AA or AF through the in-game menu. Disabling that one option (which I think was disabled by default) made it run just fine with adequate graphical quality (mind you slightly dated by now and I'm running it on an over-powered GTX 980Ti). Running it just fine at 2560x1440 resolution by changing the setting in the config file.

I baught the game years ago, and loved it, but the game wont work on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 IF you use the physical disks.
You won't be able to complete the installation due to the fact that some of the drivers are unsigned, e.g. lirsgt.sys which seems to have something to do with TAGES disk copy protection.
if you do get it to install on Win 7, it won't start due to similar issues.
I think/hope these drivers only relate to DRM, so I believe that these issues would not happen with a Steam version.
I'm saving up to buy the steam version, i think/hope it will work.

I couldn't get it to work from disk in Win 7 and other people had the same problem.
certain drm's were patched out at a certain point. Perhaps you ran it before microsoft deployed those patches.
