DarkStar One

Is collecting all 100 artifacts even possible?
Several systems simply will NOT unlock. No main storyline mission, side mission, random mission nor visiting of neighbouring systems will open them. ALL of these unlockable systems I assume have artifacts that you will never, ever be able to get.

So far these systems just will NOT open for me:-

Permakin, Raptor-Delta Sector
Honnaing, Hive-AC3 Sector
Natkyigon, Hive-AC3 Sector
Shanzeik, Hive-B52 Sector
Ngakin, Hive-B52 Sector
Minshwe, Hive-B52 Sector
Maleindon, Hive-B52 Sector
Metojang, Hive-B52 Sector
In fact, the ENTIRE Hive-B52 Sector, except for the deserted Kajudeng system, remain closed off!

And I'm sure I will come across yet more later.

Any help guys?

That map on http://andrewore.web.fc2.com/en/ds1map.htm could be useful - though the pop-up ad all in Chinese has me suspicious!

yeah surf safe bro-

Will do bruv.

Some of those systems have opened up since, but not all. Looks like I might not get 100% artifacts, though now I've hit that "Flak Defense (2)" mission it's looking like I might not ever finish this game at all! 100 artifacts or not! :/

the flak 2 can be done by editing the files so each wing has exactly one drone ...
still lost half of my health on that mission (while cheating)

Check these forums for the thread about flak2 workaround-I too was stuck here but used the "fix" I found and reposted it in these forums-

I copy and paste here for you--ok NOW have fun!-(Don't forget to change it back after you complete the mission)

found this from playedout from years ago- it helped me...
This worked for me. Does it now? Don't know, been a while:

1) Goto your DSone installation folder
2) Goto folder lua\mission
3) use notepad or any text editor to open BattleLib.lua
4) Search for "BattleLib.CreateWing = function( BG, Data )"
5) Scroll down a little bit until you see the following section:
(USE “FIND” on IF):
if def.Position then
temp.Position = NVector.Add( {
Vector1 = BG.Center,
Vector2 = def.Position } ).Vector
end
6) add "temp.Number = 1"(without the double quotes) right below this section. It should also right above the line "if use_define then"
7) save the change and go back to game and load the Flak mission
8) You should now always facing 1 enemy only

It is highly recommend you to undo this change (remove the additional line) after you pass through the Flak mission (Save the game after the mission, exit the game, undo the change and go back to your save)

Thanks for the info, such info always comes in handy to everyone - but in the meantime I did finish it without needing to cheat, I just dropped the difficulty level down to "1" in the options..... which is *so* easy I suppose you could call it cheating..... I usually play on "3" at the lowest!

This was a very unfairly designed mission..... makes me wonder if the developers were deliberately trolling players with this one! Especially as they released the game with no cheat codes. Maybe they wanted nobody to ever finish this game. Where they trying to hide a ♥♥♥♥ ending or something?

they simply forgot to exclude the difficulty scaling on missions where ur ship is not the platform u are sitting in
thats a design flaw but not an intentional dickmove

ROLF "dickmove" that's a good word bruv! Amazed Steam's Stalinst auto-censor didn't spot "♥♥♥♥"!

The flakmission is more difficult, the more artifacts you collected. Play straight through the game until finishing the f***ing second flakmission; then travel back to previous sectors and collect the "Bonus-artifacts". You possibly must jump in every single system to get access to the closed systems. It's not so very logical ;)
It's definitely possible, to get all 100. I finished this game, when it was new. Unfortunately, it's getting really boring after this point...
Liobuster Jun 20, 2016 @ 11:35am
yeah but the game is awfully difficult without those artifacts just for the reason that u know u will be sitting in another of those flak turrets sometime in the future which takes quite a while (especially since i found getting secret service weapons even harder)
Mr Noseybonk Jun 20, 2016 @ 2:07pm
What was the reward, an infinite range drive wasn't it? But why? When you've finished this game, you are NOT going to keep on playing it X-Tension sandbox style! Not with it's absolute minimal X like features..... it's going on the metaphorical shelf, forever!

alas garth, I've replayed it numerous times. I have end stage cancer and use medications that would tranquilize a hippo. I forget crap and replaying is like starting a new game each time albeit a BIT wiser. We seasoned gamers take this into account-Many people play the same game and have varying opinions about replay value. I'm always happy to see those games that offer a new game plus mode as it makes it more enjoyable on the 2nd, 3rd and 10th time through.

I'm gonna miss these kick- butt games commin' in the future. You gamers now are lucky-some amazing games under development now I'll never see.

Darkstar One is an old buddy where I can jump into my spaceship and go pepper some aliens rectal defolate for an hour or 2-

I think we all do not realise how little time we really have left. I'm 46 now, and even without anything going on that would make sure I don't reach beyond 70, I calculate (albeit roughly) I've got about 2 weeks worth of actual lifetime to share amongst each of the games I've bought on GOG and Steam. For many, I doubtless will cross the pearly gates before ever playing at all!

I hope you, and all of us, find as much time as we ever need to experience every game that has existed and ever will exist in some kind of eternity. How that would ever work is beyond me and sounds pretty impossible wishful thinking. But that wont stop us hoping.

BTW, this isn't an invitation to start any raging arguments going over religion vs atheism, rationalism vs paranormal beliefs, Richard Dawkins vs Spiritualism or anything like that.... plz don't go kicking off bruvs!
