Problems with controller detection? : Usage of XInput

Hey, for the upcoming release of the game I wanted to tell you about when to enable / disable XInput in the options of Alpaca Ball.

XInput or Direct Input are different technologies of how button presses get registered on your PC. XInput will allow you to use different controllers, such as a Switch Pro controller, support rumble and features like Steam Remote Play. That's why it's the default state. However XInput does not support more than 4 XBox controllers on one PC, so if you want to play with up to 8 players locally, you have to disable XInput.

I hope that any of your problems with controller detection can be fixed by enabling / disabling XInput.

Hi, I've a problem. I'm connecting more than 4 PS4/PS5 controllers but with the Xiput check enabled it just detect 4 controllers. If I disable the Xinput no controllers will work ! How can I fix it?

Insanely late answer and I am sorry for that. I seem to never really get the notifications in time. :( PS Controller interacts quiet strangely sometimes with Steam, you can try to rightclick Alpacaball -> Properties -> Controller and disable the Steam Input as this is what translates the controller to XInput.

No problem, however that worked but it seems that without "Steam Input" the game recognize just the PS4 controllers and not the PS5 that I connect via Bluetooth, but with 5 PS4 controllers it works. Thanks

Hi Developer, I just bought this game only for 8 players local coop. I have more than 4 Xbox X|Series controllers. When I turn off XInput, the game also disable my controllers.
I have use my mouse to turn it on in order to get my controllers back.
Is it an compatibility issue of this game?
Possible to fix it? or otherwise I have to file a refund.

Can you please also tell us what else to do? We disabled Xinput ingame, but then all 7 xbox controllers stopped working. Only mouse and keyboard were active.

If you are connecting more than 5 XBOX controllers, please enable "Xbox Extended Feature Support".
Steam Settings > Controller
Alpaca Ball is an offline multiplayer game that can be played by 1-8 players using 8 XBOX controllers.

i m using ps5 dual sense edge and it doesn t read the controller in game..only in menu option it starts
