Special bonus cards

I am on challenge mode and before every battle I am getting 1 or 2 "Special" Bonus cards that make the fight significantly easier. Does anyone know why I am getting these or how to turn them off?

The special cards appear when you have fought the encounter so many times, its sort of a learned ability, as far as I know they cant be disabled so you are just going to have to keep it in hand if you don't want to use them.

Thanks for your response, It makes sense to add these in story mode, but for challenge mode they should be disabled. The challenge mode modifiers make the encounters significantly harder.
