Cards that draw you more cards and change shape help a lot.
Entering transformation giving you a curse of the lycan in the discard pile, opening a chest gives a curse of the lycan and every curse of the lycan in the players hand deals 10 damage at the end of turn.
The problem is that you are going to transform at least once in most fights, you might be able to avoid it in first 1 or 2 fights out of the gate against weak solo enemies, and these curses don't go away after the fight, so you get to a point where you start a fight taking an enormous amount of damage or you draw a bunch of curses forcing you to not act, making you take even more damage from not acting.
I have finished all of Percival's challenges and all of Bjorn's except the lunar druid and the spike in difficulty is absurd, to the point I question that devs didn't even plan it out and haphazardly just tossed modifiers together and called it a day.
Other than that... yeah, lunar druid isn't great.
edit: just to clarify in challenge you get curse right away on transformation, each time you open chest and at the end of turn in lycan form. You cant avoid it.
Yea I haven't attempted that Challenge yet, but seems like stacking Purifcation Potions and there's some trinkets that remove all curses/status each turn would be the way to combat it. As well as visiting shops to delete curses. I haven't messed with Lunar much as it seemed really buggy for me last time I attempted it (just Discarding Initiative was giving me 2 Curse cards permanently, that's only supposed to happen when playing it)
Seems like that challenge would be super RNG dependent though, most challenge runs don't have tons of shops and force chests on you to get those 2 curse cards no matter what.
Choosing the Randomize your deck options could help as well, but yet again RNG dependent.
Immunity stacking could work as well I assume it stops the HP damage, so if you can get Armor of Invincibility, you ignore the damage for the first turns, but you still need to get those curses out of your deck to reduce bloat. High Balm could try to stop the bleeding as well, but still can't get too nutty with how many curses are in the deck
Regarding strategy, I just replayed the battles a lot and generally tried to choose easier routes. I bought literally every potion in the stores and squeezed the most out of them.
Most importantly, if transformation is unavoidable, you should either get out of it immediately in the same turn or let yourself be transformed by your opponent, because that way you don't get an extra curse at the end of the turn.
How? How in the hell did you do it? I can't even leave the first zone. I don't believe you
I'll try this once or twice I guess, then hopefully wait for a correction on this one.
EDIT : I was able to get to act 2 with these boots, but it's almost impossible to get less than 1 curse per encounter, and with the number of encounters, even with taking any opportunity to remove curses from my deck it ended up being too much by the middle of act 2 :'(. I guess it is somehow doable, but tha amount of luck involved is kind of bonkers.
