How to get the "moral" that we want
Hey everyone!

After going through some threads here, I realized the final boss changes based on your moral alignment (Good or Evil). But like with most things in this game, it's not exactly clear how it works.

Does anyone know how to specifically choose Good or Evil (White and Blue)? And depending on that choice, who do you face at the end?

I keep getting wrecked by Milenis, so I’m thinking about switching it up and going against the other boss instead.

Any tips would be awesome! Thanks!

P.S.: I am still with Persival.

Once you do a event and go back and hover over it, itll outline the selection with white or black so you know if its good or bad, i believe the ending lore is the only thing affected from what i could tell and it depends on if you even do certain events or not. For the long haul idk how it affects it.

That's the karma system. White snake means 'good' actions and black snake means 'bad' actions. This system helps you to get your individual game ending - good or bad. We have some options showing you how your descion will affect your karma, but once you try them and find out the outcome. Timeloop and so on.
But you know, everything is relative :)

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback.

Right, I noticed that by hovering over the choices we can see snake. However, the black snake is to fight the dude or against Milenis?

Btw, marfonium, congratz on working on this amazing game. In two days I had 24.1 played hours(!!!) (Yes, I work and have a life ahaha). There are in fact some tweaks and minor additions(for instance a combat log), but a great surprise indeed!

Thank you! Yep, I lost in the game for first several days too :D Glad you like it!

Black snake will lead to fight dude (all biomes with black diamonds beneath the snake bar - welcome to the fight with Mortis).

Oh cool! Got a few more questions that popped up:

Swamps vs. The Other Side: This might be rhetorical, but can we explore both the Swamps and the other area in a single playthrough, or is it an either/or situation? Maybe I'm missing something here.

Karma Check: Is there a hotkey or any method to consistently check karma? The karma bar flashes for like 2 seconds and then disappears, making it super easy to miss.

Starting a New Save: If I start a new game with a different character, does it overwrite my current save?

I have a bunch more questions, but I'll hold off for now! 😂

Appreciate any insights. Thanks!

Sure thing!
1. In one run you can visit 3 biomes - Frontier - Rotten Bog / Crimson Steppes - The Nothern Gate. Depends on your prefernces in developing events or getting build you choose where to go.
2. Karma check: for now you can see it only when actions affect karma. Suppose that we really need to add an option to check it.
3. When you start a new game (not fresh save file to the bottom right side on the screen) you lose only your current run progres.. All other things like hero boosting are saved. You can see it when you start new game ther will be 3 coffins screen where you can click and choose new hero (also you can go back to the coffins screen and click on the previous one and see that the progress is saved).

Cool! Thanks for the help so far Marfonium!

I have some paths and builds sketched in my mind and ready to try out!

Oh! One last thing(for now muahaha)! what about the Challenges? What they can offer? starting gear and stuff like that, or is it only to level up chars/classes? And, if the Challenges gives us Starting Gear, is actually gear that we start with, or gear that can drop in a run?

Its not really 'karma' Its "What Mortis wants" vs "Want Mellenis" wants. As you play the story you find out Mortis' goals, and...well I wouldn't call them good necessarily. Arguably better than Mellenis, but not by much. In short, Mortis wants 'balance' among the races, Mellenis wants unity and conquest through fear and power, and the old king wanted unity through diplomacy and unity of purpose.

One aspect that makes it somewhat annoying is that some events don’t give you a choice. They will be give you one type of karma and that’s it.
So you need to memorise which events give what karma if you want to fight mortis.
Like if you want the bad ending you can pick every bad option and still get the good ending just based on what nodes you visited.
This seems kinda silly especially since the map doesn’t tell you what karma comes from which nodes, even ones you have visited the node before.
Would be nice if the map had an icon showing the karma available for each option you previously picked.

I don't understand why that system isn't explained in the tutorial. The snakes just shows up out of the blue and no explanation is given.

That's exactly what I think. I tried to reach the bad ending (fight Mortis) in 5 runs now and couldn't achieve it because I forgot I only had good options here and there...it's annoying. So apart from having a good build that can beat him, the harder part is to get him as enemy.

EDIT: on the first map, the event "burried treasure" you can wait and then attack the bandits. That's a good deed, but not marked as such and thus a bug imho.
