doesn't save the latest save

Before quitting the game, I save manually. But when I want to load again later, the savegames are all older than the one I thought I saved. Meaning I lose gameplay. Anyone an idea how to solve this?

How are you "manually" saving? I usually type in a descriptive name and perhaps the date of the save or a sequential number. If I was concerned my recent saves weren't saving, I would record the name of the most recent save to check against the list of saves the game gives me. I make regular saves throughout my play session. Going for too long without making a save can cause problems for almost any game. I don't usually use the quick save option.

I also like to make my own backups of the save file after each play session and I store those in a different location. This allows me to get rid of extra in-game save files that pile up, leaving more room for recent saves, because I can always load an old backup save file if I want to play older characters.
