Horses even worth it?

The problem i have with the horses is that unless your constantly riding them usually they will get killed off because foes wander about towns all the time, I've had many horses i left in the middle of town get killed off because foes just kill it. I can't figure out why i would want to spend money on bridles for them when later on i go back to town to find horse not there anymore.

Plus the fact you can't ride them all the time, can't take them indoors, have to dismount a lot to go places, some skills don't work on them, to me, 100% worthless other than game filler. Any reason for me to change my opinion? I stopped using them in the 2nd chapter after losing a few to town enemies who killed them off while i was out exploring. I don't plan on ever getting another one. I played a melee character, are they useful with archers, mages?

with the mages and the archers they can get along pretty good because you have no spells to get cancelled while riding , mostly because they are not mele fighters and their abilities are not dealt by weapons or combat arts :)

I never got to that point tho , but logistically speaking only WE and BM could use them properly :D
