How to play multiplayer in 2020

I tried with hamachi and ZeroTier but i couldn't manage to get it working

Just started playing multiplayer yesterday with a friend.

The only thing we did that I don't believe the guide mentioned, we both had to disable our windows defender/firewall services, otherwise Hamachi diagnostics would tell us "incoming traffic blocked"
