- either you jumped/teleported across the river to the location with mobs of much higher level;
or
- you are trying to kill mobs with your common attacks, while you have to use your combat arts;
But still, I have no idea who could kill you with one hit in initial location on Bronze. If you need noob-friendly class - take gladiator. Totally brain dead/no skill/easy to learn character. Brute foce, a lot of health and nothing more.
In any case, also try advancing more cautiously so as not to aggro so many enemies at once. Keep an escape rout open back to the guards in town, who will help you fight if the enemies follow you there.
You will want to complete the 'missing blacksmith' mission ASAP, so you get the unique sword reward (you can sell it if your class can't use it) and then forge rings/skulls/runes into open slots, thus increasing your damage output even more.
Kiddin? It's the hardest character to start with. Sure, he has lots of cool stuff and AoE spells as well. But you need to invest really a lot of time and efforts to make him shine.
Battlemage is incredibly easy. Fireball carries you through the game as you can offscreen most enemies later.
Gladiator is imo one of the most painful classes because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ animations and hitrate. Vampiress is the better Glad imo.
