Fix for Sacred Gold on Windows 11

I finally got Sacred Gold to work on my Windows 11 laptop.

Nothing worked for me and then I started trying stuff for myself.

1. Install Sacred Gold then navigate to the installation folder, it should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sacred Gold
2. Go to this site: http://dege.fw.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/ and dowload dgVoodoo v2.78.1 stable version or the latest stable version
3. unpack the folder and copy dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf in your installation folder
4. then open (in the unpacked folder) 3Dfx then x86 and copy all the .dll files (not the Napalm folder) into your installation folder, should be 3 files
5. do the same for the folder called MS and then x86, should be 4 files
6. run the config.exe file in the installation folder and turn on the 32 Bit color depth and hit ok
7. run the dgVoodooCpl.exe file in the installation folder and under appearance set the scalling mode to centered
8. under DirectX set the Vram to the highest setting that your graphics card supports
9. set the resolution to your desired resolution
10. under miscellanneous turn off dgVoodoo watermark then hit apply and ok

Now you should be able to start the game.

I hope this helps some people so they can finally enjoy this game like me. :)

I also got it to run on widows 11. Type programs into search box, click on run programs made for previous versions of windows, click winxp service pack 3 click test then ok runs fine with none of the glitches with dgvoodo2

Nice, works fine.
I wonder why I never found this answer on the web anywhere.
I also wonder why the normal compatibility over the settings from the .exe file doesn't work.
But I have to take a look into it if you can play it at modern resolutions with this method.

I tried virtually every combination of compatibility mode settings and nothing worked. The fix Nerxis posted was the only one worked for me.

I simply clicked on play and it worked? I can even tab out.

Before this the game didn't launch at all. Now it at least launches to some extent...

How can I play in windowed mode in 1080x1980?
If I tab out of the game I can't tab back in. I can make it active in the forground yes, but when I press any button the game minimizes itself or is displayed as a tiny black window on the screen.

Nope, doesn´t work at all.
Windows 10, 64bit and so far haven´t found a single fix. Game pretends to start with a black screen and then just closes again. I think i just give up at that point.
