How do you view/unequip it completely? Can't seem to find how.

ctrl + right click on the horseshoe icon near you character's potrtrait.

That does nothing, even when I'm standing right next to my horse. Also tried the same on its health bar. Nothing.

Hover your mouse over the row of smaller horseshoes to see the stats for your horse, which will include the saddle stats.

I don't think there is a way to unequip the saddle other than to sell the horse to a horse trader, or let the horse get killed (if you are losing a battle, the game will kill the horse first before your character is killed). Once the horse is no longer in your possession, or dead, the saddle will fall to the ground. Or, if you get another saddle, you can exchange saddles back and forth by right-clicking on them in your inventory.

Yeah I'm looking either to A) unequip the horse's armour or B) view the currently equipped horse armour. Right now, I am forced to carry around a spare piece of armour at all times to swap it out if I need to check the equipped one. Inventory is already small enough as it fills up very quickly. Comparing horse stats between mine and a new one is also not really possible since you cannot unequip it.

I mostly am looking for speed in my horses, and I just try to memorize the speed of my current horse without the saddle and then look for faster horses as the game progresses. I don't fight on the horse so much anymore, other than ranged attacks.

I feel your pain on the inventory issues. It's annoying to carry that extra one just to be able to see the stats on the current saddle, but I've done it many times.

You can't take off horse armor like you can with weapons for companions, but you can right click another horse armor and just like with normal armor it will change places with the one equipped and then see and compare stats with the new and old one.

like kkgobkk wrote: "ctrl + right click on the horseshoe icon near you character's potrtrait" and horse armous will be placed in your inventory. Just checked it, and it works.

Is it necessary? I don't know if it is because I have many mods, but I just unequip it by right click on the horse icon.
