Perhaps change something in the Config file:
Go to your Steam Library and right-click on the game. Click on the following:
Properties
Local Files
Browse Local Files
Find the file "Config.exe". Open this file and check the appropriate box. Or right-click on the file and click on "run" and check the appropriate box or boxes.
Extra Tip: If you ever ask Steam to verify the files for this game, it will change everything back. You will have to redo the above steps before loading the game again.

1. In the game installation folder there's a file named "Config.exe", run it
2. Select "Full screen" and click OK
3. Open nVidia control panel
4. In the left pane select "Adjust desktop size and position"
5. In the right pane select "Aspect ratio"
6. In the "Perform scaling on" dropdown menu select "GPU"
7. Tick the "Override scaling mode set by games and programs" option (set it ON)
8. Apply
9. Right-Click on Sacred.exe in Game installation Folder > Properties, Compatibility Tab - Change Compatibility Mode to Windows 7.
10. Right-Click on Sacred.exe in Game installation Folder > Properties, Compatibility Tab - Change High DPI settings > High DPI-scaling override by Application.
11. Run the game from Steam or desktop link.
taken from here and modified. Works for me brilliantly on 1080GTX! :lunar2019grinningpig:

no need for dgvoodoo2 or something.
Fullscreen on 27" with 2560x1440, 60 fps, correct aspect-ratio, PERFECT!

Someone else's comment:
Windows 10 - works fine,if not,try Sacred.exe - Compatible mode with Win XP SP3
I have new 2K monitor and in Sacred was problem with full screen mode - problem with stretch.
Try to disable FREESYNCH in monitor and change frequency for example from 144Hz to 100Hz or 60Hz.Works fine now!

A more complete guide to fixes for Windows 10 users:
Shaidon has Sacred Gold 16 hours ago
Got the game running nicelly on Windows 10
I checked some guides here and did some testing, and this is what is working for now:
1. go to http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html and download the last stable dgVoodoo. What was version 2.61.
2. copy dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf to the game installation folder. I think the folder doesn't matter, but why not?
3. copy all dll from the MS\x86 folder to your game installation folder (D3D8.dll, D3D9.dll, D3DImm.dll, DDraw.dll).
4. I overwriten the D3D9.dll with the one from the x64 folder as well, not sure is if better or not.
5. go to the Sacred Gold installation folder and execute Config.exe. Only have Fullscreen, Play Movies, 32 Bit Color Depth, Sound Activated toggled. Filter Active (AA) will create some blue lines in a few areas, and VCM will black screen videos.
6. execute dgVoodooCpl.exe that you set in the installation folder. At the top click Add and select the Sacred Gold Installation folder.
7a. at the general tab I selected my video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti), and at Full Screen Output, DISPLAY1.
7b. Appearance: Fullscreen, although Windowed would make no difference. Scaling Mode at Stretched 4:3 Aspect Ratio. Other options will make the visuals look darker or too small and stretched.
8a. at DirectX tab keep dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerated Card, change the VRAM if you want, I set mine to 2048 Mb.
8b. Texture: Filtering set to App driven, Resolution Unforced, Antialiasing (MSAA) Off. Any of these 3 options will break the textures of the game by creating some grid lines. I used the Nvidia Control Panel to toggle the filtering options, although didn't noticed any huge difference.
Remember to click on apply/OK after all the changes.
Second, I do not have nVidia, I have AMD, so those settings do not work for me.
Third, I'd like to not use any third-party program for this.
When I'm trying to find solutions for fixing things on my games, I will read as many threads as possible on anything related to the same issue. Even if they aren't my exact situation, sometimes they help me understand the problem I'm having a little better, and I am able to figure things out for myself.
I keep records on many of the common issues on my favorite games, and when someone has a problem, I go into my "library" and find anything related to the issue and provide that information. I'm sorry if you couldn't find anything in the above that might lead you to a solution.
Either way, I put it on windowed mode and playing it like that.
