To start, open the settings.cfg file ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamaps\common\Sacred Gold\ *.*) and change the default skills into DEFAULT_SKILLS : 0
By doing so you are able to choose the two starting skills yourself, instead of having the preset skills. When that change is made, save the config file and start the game.
Now, select the LAN option and start a single player Hack & Slash mode.
From the starter's island, use the underground teleport to Braverock. When there, accept the "Axe of Galadius" and that bunny quest; which are both located inside the city wall and don't need fighting. Rewards of those are often runes, items and gold, so that's one step done. You could even pick up the quest for the 2nd merchant; however that one could be tricky once in a while. But if you manage to pull that one off, it's an instant 3 level skill gain.
Also, make sure you loot every crate and barrel in that city, sell the items and you got even more gold. When that's done, use the teleport to get to the starter's island again, go underground and use the teleport to Mascarel. There are a few quests (one picking up a nun if not mistaken) and quite some barrels and crates you can loot. When you're done, save (export) your character, log out and do it over again. I used this trick back in the MP days and it always worked like a charm.
Within 1-2 hours you'd have enough money and hopefully runes, as well as skills to start the game at silver difficulty SP.
Thorin :)
I don't mind leveling up, I just want an easy gold boost so if I see something I want at the store I can buy it.
