Sacred won't launch:
go to steam library -> sacred gold -> properties -> local game files
Run config.exe and:
disable full screen mode
enable 32 bit color depth. I've seen posts about this being helpful
Filter active (anit-aliasing) sometimes causes crashes but it does slightly improve graphics
Video compat mode does something, but i have no clue what.
I guess it is best to turn it on if you don't have an old/(new?) Nvidea graphic card. No personal experience with this, if anyone else does have info please tell me.
Make sure that Sacred.exe has the right compatiblity settings. This should be windows xp service pack 3 and run as admin.
If this didn't help, try running testapp.exe or sacred.exe with the windows compatbility fixer(low chance of succes if those first 2 steps didn't do it already).
For help with multiplayer I suggest you search this forum. One way is Tunngle for example, which allows you to see others with tunngle when you select LAN multiplayer. Make sure firewall allows tunngle and sacred. In the options menu you should put the dataflow option for Modem/ISDN (otherwise you get error:code 20)
If anyone got anything to add please tell, I'll hope to expand this so we can help everyone with problems launching this good old game.
I did not write this. The author's @Quimoth. He doesn't have a copyright but i still credit him.
