Controller Issues

Hi, was playing fine last night with my Switch Pro Controller, but when the game has updated this morning it seems to have lost functionality? Steam knows its there, and even the game seems to accept the gamepad, but like, after its already loaded. You get to the home screen with the keyboard controls listed on screen and then in the bottom corner Gamepad Configured appears, (despite the fact it was already connected before launching the game) but at that point I can't work out how to get it to change from keyboard control to controller.

Almost certainly something I'm doing wrong, just not sure what.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting all controllers while in and/or out of the game? That usually fixes most of these kind of problems.

No such luck unfortunately. Disconncected, reconnected, both in and out of game, closed steam, restarted it, restarted the laptop even. No dice. It seems to default to keyboard no matter what. Very weird...

You might want to google that specific problem. Sounds like it's a general issue with that specific controller and your laptop. Not sure.

I was playing fine last night. Today the game loads but controller or keyboard don't respond.

I tried reinstalling game,
Switch to other controller
Did a system restore
all updates are up to date.

The game works on my Dad's laptop with the same controllers.

I assume you tried verifying the game data? Not sure if a reinstallation does the same.

Hey there! You might want to search for the savefile playerconfiguration.haiku and delete it. This will only delete your settings (plus any progress on two achievements: water drop / kill 575 enemies) but it might help refresh the keybindings that you had saved in the game.

I had a similar problem to this. Everything was working just fine one day and then the next day, I couldn't get past the start menu using the controller.
After trial and error, what worked for me was disconnecting the controller then starting the game and using the keyboard to get past the start menu and into the actual game and then connect the controller. That solved the issue and let me play the game again.
